A holder has a protrusion which protrudes from a side surface at a side opposite in an axial direction with respect to a rolling element held in a pocket toward the side opposite in the axial direction. An oil supply hole which penetrates through the holder from the side surface to a surface at a side of the rolling element in the axial direction is formed in the holder. When the holder rotates, the protrusion guides oil into the oil supply hole, and the oil is introduced from the side surface of the holder to the surface on the side of the rolling element.

A hub unit that is to be installed on a vehicle is provided with: an outer ring having, on the inner circumferential surface, a first outer raceway surface and a second outer raceway surface that is disposed to the outside of the first outer raceway surface in the vehicle width direction when the hub unit is installed on the vehicle; an inner shaft that is disposed on the inside of the outer ring concentrically with the outer ring and on which a wheel is installed on the outer end in the vehicle width direction; and an inner ring that is press-fitted to the inner shaft on the inner end in the vehicle width direction.

A hub unit includes an outer ring, an inner shaft, rolling elements and a sealing device. The outer ring includes an outer ring body and an outer ring flange. The inner shaft includes an inner shaft body and an inner shaft flange. The outer ring body includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is an end part on the outer side of the outer ring body. The second portion is a part of the outer ring body between the first portion and the outer ring flange. The second portion includes an upper build-up portion. The upper build-up portion is formed in an upper part of the second portion and a thickness of the build-up portion is larger than thicknesses of side parts of the second portion. An upper end of the upper build-up portion is higher than an upper end of the first portion.

The grease includes a base oil, a thickener, and additives. The grease includes a synthetic oil as the base oil. A kinematic viscosity of the base oil at 40&#xb0; C. is 20 mm/s to 50 mm/s. The additives include a phosphorus compound, a calcium compound, and a hydrocarbon wax.

In a machining tool, multiple tooth forming portions for plastically forming spline teeth on an axial end face of a vehicle hub unit, the axial end face facing inward in the vehicle lateral direction, are formed in a circular pattern about the central axis of the machining tool. In the machining tool, a rounded-portion forming portion is formed to form a rounded portion between a tooth flank and a top land of each spline tooth, and the radius of the rounded-portion forming portion gradually changes in the radial direction about the central axis.

A cage bar of at least one of pockets, the cage bar being on one side of the at least one of the pockets in the circumferential direction, has a bent portion that is bent toward one side in an axial direction such that an end face of the cage bar on the other side in the axial direction is recessed toward the one side in the axial direction. Further, a cage bar of the at least one of the pockets, the cage bar being on the other side of the at least one of the pockets in the circumferential direction, has a bent portion that is bent toward the other side in the axial direction such that an end face of the cage bar on the one side in the axial direction is recessed toward the other side in the axial direction.

A rolling bearing device for a wheel includes a fixed bearing ring in a tubular shape which is fixed to a vehicle side, and a rotary bearing ring which is rotatably passed through the fixed bearing ring, and includes a plurality of flange portions for mounting the wheel formed on an outer periphery at one end side thereof in an axial direction, and a spigot joint portion in an annular shape protruding in the axial direction formed in a one end part thereof in the axial direction. A circular recess is formed in the one end part of the rotary bearing ring in the axial direction. Thick wall parts for reinforcement are formed on an inner peripheral surface of the spigot joint portion at positions corresponding to regions between a part between the respective flange portions.
