A video display device that allows the color temperature of the signals in white color attributes having high luminance and low chroma saturation to be corrected with high precision is provided with a color temperature correction method so as to visually obtain a desirable white color on display. In some embodiments, the signal processing circuit can include an A/D converter to convert video signals into digitalized signals, a matrix circuit to convert the digitalized signals into luminance signals and at least two color difference signals, a hue conversion circuit to obtain hue signals from the color difference signals, a hue correction circuit to correct hue signals, a chroma saturation conversion circuit to obtain chroma saturation signals from color difference signals, a chroma saturation correction circuit to correct chroma saturation signals and a color temperature correction circuit to perform the color temperature correction on the respective hue and chroma saturation signals.

With the aim of offering a video display technique by which stable and high contrast video images are reproduced, contrast adjusting circuitry is constructed. According to the present invention, the amount of usage of a heat conductive member for fixing a self-luminous flat display panel to a metallic chassis member disposed at the back of the display panel is reduced in the thickness direction as well as in the surface direction. The invention further provides a technique for efficiently radiating heat from the display panel, suppressing cost increase. To this end, in the invention, the heat conductive member is a hot-melt adhesive having adhesion at room temperature and filled with a heat conduction imparting agent, and the display panel is fixed to the chassis member by a plurality of heat conducting sections of the heat conductive member formed discretely ranging from 0.3 to 0.8 mm in thickness.

A video signal processing apparatus includes a characteristic detection circuit for detecting luminance distribution corresponding to one frame of a video signal, a contrast compensation circuit for compensating contrast of the video signal, an edge compensation circuit for compensating an edge portion of the video signal, and a control circuit for determining a luminance range to be controlled on the basis of the luminance distribution detected by the characteristic detection circuit, and controlling the contrast compensation circuit and edge compensation circuit to conduct predetermined compensation on the video signal belonging to the luminance range. A receiver includes a motion picture data decoder which decodes motion picture data to obtain decoded motion picture data, a memory which stores the decoded motion picture data, a video processing unit which mixes the decoded motion picture data with first graphics data and converts the motion picture data to obtain first on-screen data mixed and first format-converted motion picture data, and a second on-screen data multiplexer which mixes the decoded motion picture data with second graphics data to obtain second on-screen data-mixed motion picture data. A first output device outputs the first on-screen data mixed and first format-converted motion picture data, a second output device outputs the second on-screen data mixed motion picture data.

Method and device for converting number of frames of image signals

A low-cost motion-compensated picture signal scan conversion circuit ensuring high picture quality is to be provided. The circuit has a motion-adaptive first interpolation signal generator; a second motion-compensated interpolation signal generator; a motion vector detector; and a setting unit for checking the reliability of motion compensation by comparing signals from the second interpolation signal generator with signals on interlaced scanning lines, and setting the selection of signals from the first and second interpolation signal generators, wherein interlaced scanned signals are converted into progressive scanned signals by setting the threshold so that the threshold become smaller with an increase in the number of re-searched blocks in the detection of motion vectors.
