A carrier for microorganism incubation of a diffusion type in which microelements and inorganic nutrient salts which are useful in proliferation of microorganism are included in a porous material is provided. This carrier may be employed in a bioreactor for treatment of waste water where high activity and high density of the microorganism is desired.

Mesophilic methane bacteria obtained from digested sludge are acclimatized in an H/COmedium and the acclimatized methane bacteria are grown on a support inclusive of inorganic nutritional salts of trace metal elements by using an immobilized bed bioreactor. Method and apparatus for treatment of organic matter-containing wastewater

Disclosed is an efficient method for culturing an edible basidiomycetous fungus such as Mushroom Agaricus Blazei Murill in a liquid culture medium to give fungus aggregates of several centimeter size. Characteristically, the liquid culture medium is formulated with sucrose as a carbon source in the form of crude cane sugar in combination with a water-insoluble growth-supporting material in the form of a fine powder to serve as the core of the fungus aggregates as selected from crushed sugarcane, sugarcane bagasse, pine trees and wheat bran. The present invention relates to magnetic carriers in which microorganisms requiring carriers for their growth in the step of treating wastewater have been immmobilized, a process for producing the carriers and a method of treating wastewater. The present invention provides microorganisms-immobilized carriers with a high amount of microorganisms immobilized for use in wastewater treatment, the movement of which is controllable in a treatment chamber by magnetic force. Further the present invention provides a process for producing said carriers easily and a method for treating wastewater efficiently.
