The ink jet head ejects ink droplets by exerting an electrostatic force on ink having dispersed charged particles, and includes an insulating ejection substrate having through holes, ejection electrodes, each being arranged in each through hole and ink guides, each passing through each through hole. Each ink guide includes a support part and a tip end part that extends from an end portion of the support part, the tip end part is formed so that a back surface of the tip end part is flush with a back surface of the support part, and the tip end part is thinner than the support part to form a step on a front surface side and is gradually narrowed toward the ink droplet ejection side, and the electrostatic force has at least a component directed toward a tip end of an ink guide along the tip end part. The image recording apparatus includes the ink jet head and records an image on a recording medium.

A liquid ejection head ejects droplets of solution in which charged particles are dispersed by exerting electrostatic force on the solution. The head includes an insulating ejection substrate including through holes, ejection electrodes arranged to respectively correspond to the through holes, and solution guides that respectively pass through the through holes and protrude from the ejection substrate. Each solution guide includes a support portion of flat-plate shape and a tip end portion of flat-plate shape that is extendingly provided to form a step in a thickness direction in an end portion of the support portion and is thinner than the support portion. An image recording apparatus includes the liquid ejection head and an image corresponding to image data is recorded on a recording medium.

A technique is provided in which the inside and outside of an exposure device is prevented from being adversely affected by leakage of light by setting an inspection output most suitable for high-power LD. A light-leakage detection level is set correspondingly to output characteristics of each high-power LD, and respective thresholds thereof are previously stored. As a result, leakage of light can be determined in a lower-power state of 100 mW or less. Accordingly, even if leakage of light may occur, leakage of light can be determined before high-power light leaks, and the inside and outside of the device can be prevented from being adversely affected by light leakage.

A laser beam emitted by a semiconductor laser is applied through a beam shaper optical system to a recording film to produce the image of a near field pattern of the laser beam which is of a narrow width in a main scanning direction of the recording film and which has a wide, substantially rectangular intensity distribution in an auxiliary scanning direction. The image recorded on the recording film is free of image density irregularities in the auxiliary scanning direction.
