A gas-barrier resin (A) having an oxygen permeability coefficient of 1.0&#xd7;10(cm&#xb7;cm/cm&#xb7;s&#xb7;Pa) or less; and a copolymer (B) containing monomer structural units represented by the formula (1), the formula (2), and the formula (3): where: Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; Rrepresents a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms that may be substituted with a halogen atom, a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group, or an amino group; 1, m, and n represent numerical values representing molar proportions of the respective monomer structural units, and n may represent 0; and p represents an integer of from 1 to 4, wherein a ratio of a mass of the copolymer (B) to a total mass of the gas-barrier resin (A) and the copolymer (B) is from 1 mass % to 40 mass %.

Gas-barrier resin composition and use thereof

An object of the present invention is to provide a novel production method of ethylene-based ionomer having excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance which exhibits remarkably excellent breaking elongation, breaking stress, and strain hardening, and has a high melting point. The present invention relates to a production method of an ethylene-based ionomer including a heating conversion step of heating a specific ethylene/unsaturated carboxylic acid ester copolymer and converting the ester group in the copolymer into a metal-containing carboxylate containing a metal ion of Group 1, 2, or 12 of the periodic table.

A polyethylene based resin exhibiting excellent moldability and durability and having an excellent balance between impact resistance and stiffness; and a hollow plastic molded article using the foregoing resin, which exhibits excellent moldability, durability and barrier properties and has an excellent balance between impact resistance and stiffness, are provided. A polyethylene composition which has excellent flow characteristics and mechanical properties, especially low temperature mechanical properties as well as thermal stability, elasticity and workability for molding. The polyethylene composition comprises 20 to 80 wt. % of an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer of higher molecular weight having (a) intrinsic viscosity (.eta..sub.1) of 1.2 to 9.0 dl/g, (b) density (d.sub.1) of 0.890 to 0.935 g/cm.sup.3 (c) a specific areal ratio calculated with an elution temperature-eluate volume curve in elution fractionation, and (d) a specific quantity of the content which is soluble in 25.degree. C. o-dichlorobenzene, and 80 to 20 wt. % of ethylene homopolymer or ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer of lower molecular weight having (e) intrinsic viscosity (.eta..sub.2) of 0.2 to 1.6 dl/g, (f) density (d.sub.2) of 0.890 to 0.980 g/cm.sup.3 and, wherein the above (.eta..sub.1) is larger than (.eta..sub.2), and the prepared composition has an intrinsic viscosity (.eta.) of 0.77 to 5.2 dl/g, a density (d) of 0.890 to 0.950 g/cm.sup.3 and a specific N-value of 1.7 to 3.5.
