A bipod for use in ice prone offshore environments comprising a deck connected across a pair of members, each member having a neck, and angled portion disposed at the sea surface, and a base secured to the seafloor. The base is secured using a gravity-based system or pilings. An interior zone is defined between the pair of members which is maintained largely free of ice and provides ready access to the sea surface for resupply or emergency egress.

Offshore bipod

The invention relates to a jack-up rig. The inventive rig would work like a conventional jack-up rig while in open water with the hull jacked up out of the water. However, in the event of ice conditions, the hull is lowered into the water into an ice defensive configuration. The hull is specifically shaped with a lower portion that is an ice-bending surface to bend and break up ice that comes in contact with the hull while in the ice defensive configuration. Furthermore, the jack-up rig comprises at least two derricks.

Dual-derrick ice-worthy jack-up drilling unit

The present invention provides a structure-assisted Jackup system comprising a Jackup drilling unit with a main deck structure and a plurality of legs movably coupled with the main deck structure, one or more support base structures disposed on seabed, and a plurality of movable supports, wherein each of the plurality of movable supports is securely coupled with either the main deck structure or one or more support base structure. The present invention also provides a process for assembling the structure-assisted Jackup system.

Structure-assisted jackup system

A structure-supported Jackup system comprising a Jackup drilling unit with a main deck structure and a plurality of legs movably coupled with the main deck structure, two or more support base structures disposed on seabed, and a plurality of movable supports, wherein each of the plurality of movable supports is securely coupled with either the main deck structure or one of the two or more support base structure.

Structure-supported jackup system

A single heavy lift system is made of modular units, each of which has a pair of supporting legs carrying a transverse beam therebetween. The beam is engaged to the supporting legs through jackup units that allow the transverse beams of several modular units move in unison and thus increase lifting capacity of the system. The modular units can be formed as modular, self-propelled units, transported to the site, where the lifting task is to be performed if necessary. The system can be positioned in a dry dock or offshore.

Modular heavy lift system

A bottom-supported jack-up rig has a hollow ring mat with a central opening for accommodating a lower portion of a hull nested therein when the rig is in transit. The ring mat has a predetermined surface footprint sufficient to provide stability to the rig when embedded in the sea bottom. The mat buoyancy helps support the hull and the legs in a floating position when the rig is in transit, while allowing lowering of the mat to the sea bottom without assistance of a ballasting/de-ballasting means.
