The present invention can transfer a belt member on a supply conveyor onto a building drum from an inclined distal end portion while holding on both side edge portions in the width direction thereof and can efficiently adhere the belt member according to the rotation of the building drum. As a means for such building, using a supply conveyor () which places the belt member (B) thereon and a hand device () which includes holding members (), () having press plates (), () extending in the feeding direction of the supply conveyor. According to the present invention, in adhering a belt edge tape () which is interposed between belt layers of a tire, press rollers surely adhere by pressing the belt edge tape () to a building drum (D) while preventing the press rollers from being caught by end portions of inclined cords which constitute a belt. For this end, in adhering the belt edge tape () to both respective side edge portions of the belt on the outer peripheral surface of the building drum by supplying the belt edge tape () toward the outer peripheral surface of the building drum by pressing using an extruder () which constitutes a supply device facing the building drum (D) in an opposed manner and by pressing the belt edge tape () to the building drum (D) using a press roller (), () on a leading side as viewed from a position where the belt edge tape () is supplied in the rotational direction of the building drum (D), the building drum (D) is rotated in the direction that end portions of the reinforcing cords on the side edge portion of the belt which constitutes a tape adhering side are positioned on a trailing side in the rotational direction of the building drum (D) thus adhering the belt edge tape () to the side edge portion.

An apparatus for jointing of cord fabric performed when cord fabric for topping is alternately drawn from two supply positions for continuous supply. When drawing to supply of the cord fabric on one side, a start end portion of the cord fabric on other side is locked to hold by a locking pin of a jointing holder, and is set to a jointing mounting portion in a state where an unvulcanized jointing rubber member is pasted thereto. When a final end of the cord fabric on the one side comes closer, a finish end portion thereof is pasted to the start end portion of the cord fabric held by the holder by interposing the rubber member therebetween. The finish end portion and the start end portion are squeezed for joint from upper and lower sides by press members. Thereafter, the holder is removed, and the cord fabric on the other side is drawn to supply continuously to the cord fabric on the one side.

A method of jointing a cord fabric when the cord fabric for topping is alternately drawn from two supply positions for continuous supply. During drawing to supply of the cord fabric on one side, a start end portion of the cord fabric on other side is locked to hold by a locking pin of a jointing holder, and is set to a jointing mounting portion in a state where an unvulcanized jointing rubber member is pasted thereto. When a final end of the cord fabric on the one side comes closer, a finish end portion thereof is pasted to the start end portion of the cord fabric held by the holder by interposing the rubber member therebetween.
