The present invention relates to a device of regulating a running position of unsealing tape for packing film, in which in the normal operation unsealing tape runs on a linear normal running position disposed between projecting portions and by being guided by the projecting portions and while being in contact therewith, if the unsealing tape runs on the outside of an annular groove by being shifted to either side in the width direction, as a result of a relative movement of the annular groove in the direction reverse to the rotational direction of the regulating roller with the rotation of the regulating roller, the unsealing tape gradually enters the annular groove by being guided by corner portions and on the side of openings produced by separating portions and while being in an abrasive contact therewith, thereafter, the unsealing tape is drawn to the normal running position by being guided by approaching portions and while being in contact therewith and finally the unsealing tape is returned to the normal running position by being brought into contact with the projecting portions.

A packaging device wherein a thermoplastic packaging sheet is supplied to a peripheral part of a pocket opening of a winding wheel while a box-like item, transported into the pocket, is continuously transferred, the item being transported out of the pocket and delivered whereby the sheet is wound in a U-shape along the surface of the item, and both free ends of the sheet are folded, along the surface of the item while the item is continuously transferred, and then overlapped to thermally adhere to each other, wherein an applying wheel continuously rotating synchronously in a direction opposite to that of the winding wheel, is disposed on a downstream side of the winding wheel with each of the outer circumferences of the winding wheel and the applying wheel being provided with a plurality of pockets having the items transported therein, the winding and applying wheels, being equally spaced apart in a rotational direction and being continuously oppositely rotated in a synchronous manner, with both pockets being kept on a linear line over a predetermined segment across a delivery position where the pockets in the winding wheel and the applying wheel are opposite to each other in a linear line with pushers being utilized for pushing the items in the winding wheel pockets the applying wheel pocket, a sheet supplying mechanism supplying the sheet to the winding wheel outer circumference and a holding mechanism for temporarily holding the sheet around the opening of the winding wheel pocket.

Automatic splicing apparatus includes a first supply containing a first web and a second supply containing a second web. An operable puller is engaged with the first web for withdrawing the same from the first supply and moving the first web along a predetermined path. Cutters are provided for establishing a trailing end on the first web and a leading end on the second web. The presence of the trailing end in the predetermined path is detected and a splicing station is positioned in the path for butt-splicing the leading edge of the second web to the trailing end of the first web in response to detecting the presence of the trailing edge, all without interrupting operation of the puller.

Apparatus for attaching seal-strip segments to individual packages, where the segments are in the form of a strip having opposed surfaces, includes a transfer element moveable periodically between a receiving position for receiving a segment from a supply thereof and a transfer position for transferring the segment. The transfer element releasably holds a segment with one surface thereof in contact with the element. A rotatable turret is provided having a plurality of stations at equal angular positions about the axis of rotation of the turret, each station having a support surface for supporting a segment. Rotation of the turret is synchronized with movement of the transfer element such that, during one revolution of the turret, a different one of the stations is operatively associated with the transfer element each time the latter moves to its transfer position. At each station, a holder is made effective when the station is operatively associated with the transfer element for effecting a transfer of a segment from the transfer element to the station such that the other surface of the segment is held in contact with the support surface of the station and the opposite surface is exposed. An adhesive applicator is used to apply adhesive to the exposed surface of the segments held by the stations. Finally, the turret has an angular position at which a surface of a package tangentially contacts a station for adhering a segment held thereon to the package.
