A magnetic transfer method which superposes on a magnetic disk surface a magnetic transfer master disk () on which a magnetic film is formed so as to have an array pattern shape corresponding to a preset information signal, and magnetizes the magnetic film on the master disk () to thereby magnetic-transfer-record the array pattern of the information signal on the master disk () onto the magnetic disk as the magnetized pattern of the information signal, the method characterized by comprising a step of contacting/separating to/from a dummy disk () the magnetic film-formed surface of the master disk () to thereby clean the master disk (), and a step of superposing, after the cleaning, the master disk () on the magnetic disk for magnetic transfer recording; and a magnetic transfer device for the method.

Magnetic transfer method and magnetic transfer device

A magnetic transfer method which superposes on a magnetic disk surface a magnetic pattern from a master disk ( ), said master disc having on its surface a magnetic film formed so as to have an array pattern shape corresponding to a preset data signal, magnetized into the magnetic film of the master disk ( ). The master disc is used to magnetically transfer the array pattern of the data signal onto the magnetic disk as the magnetized pattern of the data signal. The method characterized comprises steps of contacting and separating, to and from a dummy disk ( ) the magnetic film-formed surface of the master disk ( ) to thereby clean the master disk ( ), and a step of superposing, after the cleaning, the master disk ( ) on the magnetic disk for effectuating the magnetic transfer.

In the recording method of the present invention, the surface of a master information carrier facing a recording medium becomes slightly concave in its center when the master information carrier is placed upon and brought into tight contact with the recording medium, and information signals are transferred and recorded onto the recording medium. The recording method of the present invention can be widely used for producing disk-type recording media with a hole such as magnetic disks, photomagnetic disks and optical disks. The recording method of the present invention achieves quick and productive production of a very flat and smooth recording medium that is free of fine dust. Furthermore, high-density information signals can be recorded evenly and firmly on the whole surface of the magnetic surface of the magnetic recording medium.

Method and apparatus for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium with pre-format recording signals transferred and recorded by using a master information carrier

A recording and reproducing apparatus having a magnetic head and a pad facing the magnetic head such as to form therebetween a passage for a flexible rotary magnetic sheet. The pad is provided with a protrusion which protrudes toward the magnetic sheet along the edge of the pad adjacent the radially outer end of the magnetic sheet. The pad is further provided with at least one inclined surface facing the magnetic sheet and inclined with respect to the plane of rotation of the rotary magnetic sheet, in the direction perpendicular to the line connecting the center of the magnetic head and the center of rotation of the magnetic sheet. The inclined surface is provided at the downstream portion of the pad as viewed in the direction of flow of air accompanying the rotating magnetic sheet.
