A speed change device for a motorcycle has a lost motion mechanism associated with a shift rod of a link mechanism that transmits an operating force applied to a shift operating member to a shift spindle. The speed change device is provided with a shift stroke sensor that detects an amount of expansion/contraction stroke of the shift rod and with a shift spindle sensor that detects rotation of the shift spindle. Further provided is an output control device that controls the output of an internal combustion engine on the basis of detection signals of the shift stroke sensor and the shift spindle sensor. The shift spindle has a detection-target recessed portion formed by recessing a part of a cylindrical outer circumferential surface of the shift spindle. The shift spindle sensor detects the rotation of the shift spindle in cooperation with the detection-target recessed portion.

Speed change device for motorcycle

A clutch apparatus including a compressive force boosting member for biasing a presser plate in a direction to compress friction plates between a pressure bearing plate and the presser plate upon accelerated rotation of a clutch inner member. A movable cam member is formed independently wherein the machinability thereof is enhanced. A compressive force boosting member includes a cam mechanism. The movable cam member is separate from a clutch inner member and a movable spring retainer member for movement independent of said clutch inner member in response to accelerated rotation of the clutch inner member. A pressure bearing plate is fixed to a clutch inner member rotatable relatively to an output shaft. A plurality of bosses extending through a presser plate have respective ends affixed thereto. A back torque limiter member has a cam mechanism disposed between a clutch inner member and an output member.

Clutch apparatus

A multiplate clutch has an assistive cam mechanism comprising a first cam member having a first recess and a second cam member having a first tooth inserted in the first recess, wherein at least one of abutment surfaces of the first recess and the first tooth in a power transmitting state for transmitting power from an input member to an output member comprises a slanted surface for increasing an urging force of a clutch spring upon acceleration in the power transmitting state. The multiplate clutch is prevented from being connected abruptly while sufficiently reducing a load with which to operate the clutch. The angle of intersection between the slanted surfaces and a plane perpendicular to a clutch central axis is set to a range from 80 degrees to 85 degrees.

Multiplate clutch

A start permission decision section issues a start permission when an engine speed and a throttle valve opening become higher than predetermined values. A clutch-torque capacity storage section stores a clutch-torque capacity reference map in which a clutch-torque capacity is set as a function of at least the engine speed or as a function of the engine speed and the throttle valve opening. A clutch-torque capacity correction section corrects the clutch-torque capacity reference map so that the clutch-torque capacity is proportionally reduced in response to the difference between the engine speed and a start permission speed when a start permission is issued. An oil pressure controlling section connects the clutch with the clutch-torque capacity obtained in accordance with the corrected clutch-torque capacity map to start the vehicle.

Clutch controlling apparatus for vehicle

A clutch control system for a vehicle includes an actuator which is configured to control a hydraulic pressure. A timer is configured to measure a time period from a timing at which a hydraulic pressure supply source starts supplying hydraulic oil to a hydraulic clutch to a timing at which the hydraulic pressure reaches a predetermined value. A clutch control compensator is configured to calculate a control compensation value of an amount of operation of the actuator based on the time period measured by the timer. A clutch controller is configured to control the actuator based on the control compensation value and the amount of operation of the actuator using a deviation between the hydraulic pressure detected by the hydraulic pressure detector and a target hydraulic pressure set according to a condition of the vehicle.
