This non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that is an example of an embodiment comprises a winding type electrode body for which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are wound with a separator interposed. The electrode body has a positive electrode lead. The positive electrode lead has: a lead base made of metal that includes a first surface joined to the positive electrode, and a second surface on the side opposite to the first surface; and an insulating ceramic layer principally comprising an inorganic compound and formed over a range within the second surface of the lead base so as to face the negative electrode with at least the separator interposed therebetween.

A lithium ion battery including a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material layer that contains lithium silicate particles and a binder. The lithium silicate particles include composite particles including a lithium silicate phase and silicon particles dispersed in the lithium silicate phase, wherein a carbon material is present inside the composite particles, and an area ratio of the carbon material occupying a cross section of the composite particles is 0.008 to 6%.
