A braking force control apparatus for a saddle ride vehicle includes a transmission controller which reduces driving force of an engine by a predetermined speed reduction ratio and transmits the driving force to a drive wheel, a clutch device which connects&#x2014;disconnects the driving force between the engine and the transmission, a brake device which generates braking force on the drive wheel, and a sensor which detects a state of the transmission. The transmission switches between a neutral state and an in-gear state, and when the sensor detects that the transmission is switching from the neutral state to the in-gear state, the controller causes the brake device to generate braking force on the drive wheel, and then releases the braking force upon completion of the switching to the in-gear state.

Braking force control apparatus for saddle ride vehicle

A braking force control apparatus in a motorcycle, includes a controller which controls a transmission to reduces driving force of an engine by a predetermined speed reduction ratio and transmits the driving force to a drive wheel of a vehicle, a clutch between the engine and the transmission, and brake devices which generate braking force on the wheels. The vehicle is switchable between a normal and a slow speed driving modes. In the slow speed mode the controller detects an inclination pitching angle &#x3b8;, and causes the brake devices to generate braking force on at least one of the drive wheels when &#x3b8;&#x2267;a predetermined value, then starts switching the clutch to a connected state when a driving operation is input, and gradually releases the braking force once driving force starts to be transmitted to the drive wheel.

A two-wheeled motor vehicle has a rear cushion unit that includes a damper cylinder having one end part linked to a swing arm, a sub-tank connected to the damper cylinder and an adjustment mechanism for adjusting a damping force in response to operation of the operation element is provided between a vehicle body frame and the swing arm. A cylinder body of the damper cylinder, a bottomed housing tube part housing the adjustment mechanism having on an upper end part an operation face on which the operation element is disposed, and the sub-tank are integrally and connectedly provided. The operation face is inclined obliquely upward so that the operation element that faces a region bounded by the seat frame, the pillion step holder mounted on the seat frame and the swing arm when viewed from the side can be operated from obliquely above on the outside.

Two-wheeled motor vehicle

A shaft drive type motorcycle includes a drive shaft for permitting a reduction in the vehicle weight. The shaft drive type motorcycle includes a gear box provided at a rear part of a swing arm with a bearing provided between the gear box and a rear wheel axle. The bearing includes an outer race and balls and an inner race operative provided to rotatably support the rear wheel axle. A presser flange is provided between the rear wheel axle and a rear wheel that includes a hollow cylindrical part pressing the inner race in the axial direction of the rear wheel axle. A flange part is provided as part of the presser flange to which a brake disc is mounted. A labyrinth structure is provided for making it difficult for oil from leaking out of the gear box.

A motorcycle includes a swing arm, a rear wheel mounted on a leading end of the swing arm, a drive shaft disposed in the swing arm, and a final gear transmission mechanism interposed between the drive shaft and the rear wheel. The final gear transmission mechanism includes a gear case mounted on the leading end of the swing arm for supporting a rear axle; a first end bearing and a second end bearing for supporting a first end and a second end of the rear axle, respectively, a ring gear mounted on the rear axle for transmitting the rotary drive force of an engine to the rear axle; a holding portion for holding the first end of the rear axle in the axial direction of the rear axle; and a fastening member for fastening the second end bearing to the second end of the rear axle.

Final gear transmission mechanism for a motorcycle, and motorcycle incorporating same

A motorcycle includes a swing arm swingably provided on a body frame, a wheel rotatably provided at an end part of the swing arm, a disk plate attached to the wheel, a caliper bracket provided on the body frame side of the vehicle, a disk brake caliper provided on the caliper bracket, and a wheel speed sensor attached to the caliper bracket. The wheel speed sensor is disposed between the swing arm and the wheel. The wheel speed sensor and the swing arm overlap one other in a side view of the vehicle.

Speed sensor collision prevention device

A shaft drive type motorcycle includes a drive shaft, a constant-velocity universal joint interposed in the drive shaft, and the pinion gear provided at one end of the drive shaft and meshed with a final gear. A shaft part may be extended from a cup of the constant-velocity universal joint, the shaft part is provided with male splines, and a tubular part extends from the pinion gear. The tubular part is provided with female splines in which to fit the male splines, and the male splines and the female splines are coupled with each other.

An easily connected universal joint for attaching to an output shaft of an engine. A drive shaft is connected to an output shaft of an engine which is mounted on a vehicle body by way of a universal joint with a wheel being connected to a distal end side of the drive shaft. Projection portions project outwardly from a yoke of the universal joint connected to the output shaft by splines. A swing arm rockably supported on the vehicle body using one shaft with the universal joint being arranged above the shaft. A boot mounted between a distal end of the swing arm and a peripheral portion of the output shaft.

Shaft drive device

To provide the breather structure of a shaft-drive-type drive device which can miniaturize a gear casing as a whole and can exhibit an excellent appearance. A shaft-drive-type drive device is capable of transmitting an output of an engine mounted on a vehicle body to a wheel by way of a drive shaft by connecting one end of the drive shaft to an output shaft of the engine by way of a universal joint and by connecting the wheel to another end side of the drive shaft by way of gears or the like. A breather mechanism, which performs a breathing operation of the inside of a gear casing housing the gears or the like, is mounted on the gear casing, and an atmosphere opening portion of the breather mechanism is formed to open upwardly in the vertical direction of a vehicle and inwardly in the width direction of the vehicle.

Breather structure of shaft-drive-type drive device

When a vehicle speed sensor is provided as a separate unit, the vehicle sensor should be removed when a vehicle wheel is changed. A brake caliper is fitted to an upper stay and a lower stay formed at a lower part of the front fork supporting the front wheel. The sensor stay is fitted to the inside of the lower stay in the vicinity of the brake caliper. A sensor cover is fastened integrally in an overlapping manner to the outside of the sensor stay. A projection formed on the sensor cover overlaps with a fitting bolt of the brake caliper. Thus, it is not possible to remove the brake caliper without first removing the sensor cover. Further, a vehicle speed sensor is sandwiched by the sensor stay and the lower end of the sensor cover and the three members are fastened together.

Speed sensor fitting structure

A steering damper apparatus for a two-wheeled vehicle includes a steering damper housing with a lower end portion fixed to the motorcycle's main frame. A first torque arm has a first end fixed to a pivotally movable shaft, and a second end which is connected, via a first pin, to a first end of a second torque arm. The second torque arm has a second end bolted to a top bridge on the main frame. The first and second torque arms are pivotally movable relative to one another, via the pivot shaft and the first pin. The apparatus is capable of accommodating a change in distance between the pivot shaft and the bolt on the second torque arm. A two-part cover is provided for the steering damper body, including a housing cover secured to a fixed side thereof, and a torque arm cover secured to a movable side thereof.

Vehicle steering damper apparatus, and vehicle incorporating same

A hub-side mounting part formed with the side surface of a wheel hub is provided so that an outer diameter thereof is larger than a diameter of a mounting pitch circle of a disc rotor. A hub-side through-hole and a rotor side through-hole, which are formed therein to be extended therethrough, respectively, are matched with each other to improve heat radiation and crosswind performance.
