Provided are a housing and a handling method for a processing device that can prevent the adherence of dust particles and the like on a sensor. A housing accommodates a sensor that detects an energy beam. The housing comprises: a chamber provided with a transparent member through which the energy beam can pass; and a supply port for supplying gas into the chamber. The sensor detects an energy beam incident thereon via the transparent member.

Metal Zn is melted in a crucible () provided in a heating furnace () to obtain a Zn molten metal (). Heating is performed while a liquid surface of the Zn molten metal () is coated with a carbonaceous material (), thereby melting the metal Si powder (). The suppression of the floating of the metal Si powder () is released to allow the melted Si to be dispersed in the Zn molten metal (), thereby obtaining a Zn&#x2014;Si alloy molten metal (). A copper casting mold () is filled with the Zn&#x2014;Si alloy molten metal (), and is rapidly cooled down to obtain a billet.

Provided is an arc welding method and arc welding apparatus for arc welding by a brazing filler metal two base materials subjected to a plating process. An arc welding method for arc welding two base materials, at least one of which has a plating layer thereon, by a brazing filler material, performs alternately a plating layer removal process of removing a plating layer by performing arc discharge at a first current value while moving a welding torch along a welding line in a state of stopping feed of the brazing filler metal, and a brazing filler metal welding process of welding the brazing filler metal to a position where the plating layer is removed, by performing arc discharge at a second current value smaller than the first current value while feeding the brazing filler metal in a state of stopping a movement of the welding torch.

A recess portion with a substantially circular cross-section is provided in the upper end surface of a supporting jig. When a probe of a device for friction stir welding is buried in the upper end surface of a layered portion, material in the vicinity of the buried portion flows plastically. This causes the plastically flowed material to flow into the recess portion, and as a result, the material is stirred in a relatively large region. When the material that flowed into the recess portion is cooled and solidified, a friction stir-welded portion-possessing member having a projection portion is obtained.
