A slider for a data storage device may include a trailing pad comprising a recording head, an outer surface, and an inner surface, wherein the outer surface is at the media-adjacent level and the inner surface is at the first recessed level. The slider may further include particle-blocking structure comprising a hole in the inner surface of the trailing pad, wherein a bottom surface of the hole is at the second recessed level, and an island blocker situated within the hole, wherein a media-facing surface of the island blocker is at the media-adjacent level, wherein the recording head is situated between the island blocker and a trailing edge of the slider. A multi-slope load/unload ramp for a hard disk drive includes an inner first portion having a non-horizontal first slope and an adjacent outer second portion having a different non-horizontal second slope. The first slope may be steeper than the second slope, and the ramp may further include a third portion adjacent to the second portion and also having a third slope steeper than the second slope, with the ramp configured for positioning the first and second portions to overlap the disk while the third segment may be in part outside the disk. The second slope may be steeper than the first slope, with the ramp configured for positioning the first portion to overlap the disk while the second portion may be in part outside of the disk. Hence, any slider rebound from the steeper portions would occur outside of the disk and avoid a slider-disk crash.

A tube plate of a heat exchanger includes a tube plate base material to which ends of a plurality of heat transfer tubes are fixed, a first backplate that covers a surface of the tube plate base material on a first tube chamber side, and a fastener that includes at least a shaft section and fixes the first backplate to the tube plate base material. The first backplate includes heat transfer tube insertion holes through which a plurality of heat transfer tubes are inserted, and an insertion hole through which the shaft section is loosely inserted. The first backplate is joined to an end section of a second partition wall on a first end side. The second partition wall, the first backplate, and the fastener are formed of a material having higher corrosion resistance than the tube plate base material.

Disclosed herein are slider designs having improved trailing air flow dams, and data storage devices including such sliders. In some embodiments, a slider comprises a trailing edge and an air-bearing surface (ABS) comprising a trailing edge pad, and a trailing air flow dam coupled to the trailing edge pad, wherein, in an ABS view of the slider, the trailing air flow dam is recessed from and curves away from the trailing edge. In the ABS view, a shape of the trailing air flow dam may comprise two segments. The slider also has a leading edge and may at least one sub-ambient pressure cavity adjacent to the trailing air flow dam and disposed between the trailing air flow dam and the leading edge. A contact point of the trailing air flow dam may be at least 50 microns from a corner of the slider.

Air-bearing surface designs with a curved trailing air flow dam

A spray nozzle and a deaerator each include an external cylinder provided with a plurality of jetting outlets on an outer circumference portion thereof, an inner cylinder that is supported inside the external cylinder so as to be movable in an axial center direction and is provided with a plurality of first communication holes capable of communicating with the jetting outlets, and an open-close valve that includes a shaft coupled to the inner cylinder and a valve body provided at a distal end portion of the shaft and capable of opening and closing a distal opening of the external cylinder. The spray nozzle and the deaerator thus structured provide improved performance by preventing an increase in pressure loss occurring regardless of a jet flow amount.

A condenser includes heat transfer pipe groups, a main body and an intermediate body. The intermediate body has an inlet that opens in a horizontal direction, and an outlet that opens downward. The main body has an inlet that opens upward and is connected to the intermediate body outlet. The heat transfer pipe groups are arranged in the horizontal direction and disposed in the main body. A near-side outlet edge is an edge of the intermediate body outlet on a side near the intermediate body inlet in the horizontal direction and a far-side outlet edge is an edge of the intermediate body outlet on a side far from the intermediate body inlet. At least one part of the main body is located below an imaginary line that connects the near-side and far-side outlet edges and at least one part of the main body is located above the imaginary line.

A U-tube heat exchanger wherein a tube support plate divides the interior of a tube-exterior fluid chamber into a curved-tube chamber on a second end side including curved-tube sections of the U-tubes, and a chamber on a first end side. A second partition wall divides the interior of the chamber on the first end side inside the tube-exterior fluid chamber into a first straight-tube chamber including inlet-side straight-tube sections of the U-tubes, and a second straight-tube chamber including outlet-side straight-tube sections of the U-tubes. An opening penetrating from the first straight-tube chamber into the second straight-tube chamber is formed in the second partition wall. First passage holes, which penetrate from the first straight-tube chamber into the curved-tube chamber, and second passage holes, which penetrate from the second straight-tube chamber into the curved-tube chamber, are formed in the tube support plate.

A condenser includes: a vessel () configured to receive a steam flow (S) in a first horizontal direction (X); and cooling tube groups () elongated in the first horizontal direction (X) inside the vessel. Each of the cooling tubes groups has a plurality of cooling tubes () that are disposed in parallel and extend in a second horizontal direction (Y), which intersects with the first horizontal direction. A hollow portion () is formed in the first horizontal direction (X) inside each of the cooling tube groups. A non-condensed gas discharge unit () is arranged in the second horizontal direction (Y) at a downstream side of each of the cooling tube groups and includes an opening portion () on the hollow portion side. Each of the cooling tube groups includes a partition member () extending from the non-condensed gas discharge unit and open at the hollow portion.

A condenser includes a container into which steam is to flow, cooling pipes which are positioned inside the container and configured to cool the steam so as to form condensed water, at least one extraction pipe for extracting air included inside the container, at least one extraction hole which is defined in the extraction pipe and through which an interior of the at least one extraction pipe and an interior of the container communicate with each other, and a cylindrical cover which is configured with a gap spaced from the at least one extraction pipe and covers the at least one extraction hole so as to regulate an inflow of the condensed water into the at least one extraction hole. A plurality of the extraction holes are formed around the extraction pipe, and the cylindrical cover is radially outside the at least one extraction pipe with the gap spaced therebetween.

Condenser and turbine equipment

This low-pressure condenser is provided with: a pressure bulkhead which partitions the inside of the container into an upper space and a lower space; a heat transfer tube which is arranged in the upper space; and a reheater which is arranged in the lower space and which, by means of high-temperature steam flowing from the outside into the lower space, heats water which condenses in the upper space and flows into the lower space. The reheater includes multiple partition members, a receiving plate which receives water flowing downward via the partition members, and a dam which is connected to the outer peripheral edge of the receiving plate. The lower ends of the multiple partition members are below the upper end of the dam.
