An assembly includes a seatback having an upright frame member and a side airbag mounted to the upright frame member. The side airbag is inflatable to an inflated position. The side airbag includes a forward chamber and a spacer chamber adjacent each other and substantially fluidly separated from each other in the inflated position. At least one inflator is in fluid communication with the forward chamber and the spacer chamber.

A restraint system includes a center console and an airbag inflatable upwardly from the center console. The airbag includes an internal panel defining two chambers. The internal panel includes a plurality of tubes, and each tube includes an opening at which that tube terminates. The openings are proximate a top of the airbag and open to the chambers.

A vehicle door includes a door inner and a trim panel fixed to the door inner. An energy absorber having a vehicle-rearward end and a vehicle-forward end is disposed between the door inner and the trim panel and elongated in a vehicle-forward direction from the vehicle-rearward end to the vehicle-forward end. The energy absorber includes a first energy-absorbing component defining a cavity facing the trim panel, and a second energy-absorbing component disposed in the cavity. The energy absorber has a stiffness that decreases in the vehicle-forward direction.

An airbag includes a panel, a secondary panel, and an opening. The panel defines an inflation chamber inflatable to an inflated position and includes a valley in the inflated position. The secondary panel is connected to the panel on opposite sides of the valley and extends across the valley to define a secondary chamber between the secondary panel and the panel. The opening extends through the panel from the inflation chamber to the secondary chamber. During a vehicle impact, the momentum of the occupant may move the occupant towards the secondary panel. The secondary panel may absorb energy from the occupant and reduce or prevent the head of the occupant from rotating.

A vehicle includes a rocker panel and a pillar reinforcement extending in a direction transverse to the rocker panel. The vehicle further includes a door having a bracket disposed over an intersection of the rocker panel and the pillar reinforcement when the door is in a closed position. The bracket is configured to reduce intrusion propagation of the door toward a passenger compartment and redirect an impact load laterally along the rocker panel.

Side structure for a motor vehicle includes an upper leg pusher located immediately outboard of a panel adjacent to a seat and inboard of a structural member such as a side impact beam. The upper leg pusher has a lower-stiffness portion adjacent to the rear section of the panel and aligned with an upper thigh position of the seat, and a higher-stiffness portion adjacent to the forward section of the panel, which is offset outboard relative to the rear section. When the structural component is urged inboard during a side impact event, the higher-stiffness portion of the pusher begins to urge the forward panel section inboard before the lower stiffness portion begins to urge the rear panel section inboard. The rear panel section may be located below an arm rest of a door, and the forward panel section may be forms a recessed surface above a storage pocket.
