In a method of obtaining a reference image for optical object recognition, first light sources among a plurality of light sources included in a display panel are driven where the first light sources are disposed to correspond to an object recognition window which is a partial region of the display panel, a plurality of images are contemporaneously obtained based on reflected light received by an object recognition sensor through the object recognition window while driving the first light sources, at least one of the plurality of images is obtained as a first reference image for optical object recognition associated with a first object, and the first reference image is stored.

Method and device for reference imaging and optical object recognition

Each input image from a plurality of input images is divided into a plurality of image tiles. A feature point map including a plurality of feature point tiles respectively corresponding to the plurality of image tiles is generated by extracting feature points included in each image tile of the plurality of image tiles. A descriptor map including a plurality of descriptor tiles respectively corresponding to the plurality of feature point tiles is generated by generating descriptors of feature points included in the feature point map. Mapping information containing matching relationships between feature points included in different input images of the plurality of input images is generated based on a plurality of descriptor maps respectively corresponding to the plurality of input images. Image merging performance may be enhanced by dividing the input image into the plurality of image tiles to increase distribution uniformity of the feature points.

Various example embodiments are directed towards systems, apparatuses, and/or methods of obtaining a reference image for optical object recognition, the method including driving a subset of light sources of a plurality of light sources, receiving, using an object recognition sensor, light reflected off a first target object, obtaining a first reference image based on the reflected light, obtaining a first target image associated with the first target object based on the reflected light, obtaining at least one first environment information using at least one environmental sensor while driving the subset of light sources, the first environment information associated with a surrounding environment, storing the first reference image and the first environment information together, and obtaining a first effective image for the first target object based on the first target image and the first reference image.

Method of obtaining reference image for optical object recognition and method of performing optical object recognition using the same

Feature points included in input images are extracted and matching information indicating mapping relationships for feature points included in different input images is generated. A reference image is selected among the input images based on the matching information. Valid images are determined among the input images by excluding noise images from the input images based on the matching information. A two-dimensional bundle adjustment is performed to generate synchronized images by aligning the valid images to the reference image. A merged image is generated by merging the reference image and the synchronized images. Image merging performance is enhanced by selecting the reference image highly correlated with the other input images and estimating exact homography based on the reference image.
