According to one embodiment, an ultrasound diagnostic apparatus comprises processing circuitry. The processing circuitry sets one of wavelengths of a plurality of light sources as a reference wavelength, normalize an intensity of light having a wavelength other than the reference wavelength, which is detected by a pair of each light irradiation unit and each optical detector, with an intensity of light having the reference wavelength, calculate a first value for each pair by nonlinear enhancement correction of a normalized light intensity, calculate a second value for the each pair by nonlinear reduction correction of an intensity of light having the reference wavelength detected by the each pair, and calculate an evaluation value based on a value obtained by multiplication of the first value and the second value for the each pair.

According to one embodiment, an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus comprises an ultrasonic probe, image generation circuitry, image generation circuitry, at least one light emission circuitry a plurality of optical detection circuits, a slide mechanism and analysis circuitry. The slide mechanism makes at least either the at least one light emission circuitry or the plurality of optical detection circuits slide to change positional relationships between the ultrasonic transmission/reception surface, the at least one light emission circuitry, and the plurality of optical detection circuits. The analysis circuitry analyzes a change in the light intensity detected for each of different positional relationships between the ultrasonic transmission/reception surface, the at least one light emission circuitry, and the plurality of optical detection circuits.

According to one embodiment, an illumination device includes an anode, a metal layer, a cathode, an organic electroluminescent unit, first and second insulating layers, and a plurality of conductive piercing layers. The metal layer has an electrical resistance lower than that of the anode. The cathode is provided between the anode and the metal layer. The organic electroluminescent unit is provided between the anode and the cathode. The first insulating layer is provided between the cathode and the metal layer. The conductive piercing layers pierce the organic electroluminescent unit, the cathode, and the first insulating layer along a direction from the anode toward the metal layer to electrically connect the anode to the metal layer, and are separate entities from the metal layer. The second insulating layer is provided between the organic electroluminescent unit and the conductive piercing layers and between the cathode and the conductive piercing layers.

According to one embodiment, an illumination device includes an organic light-emitting unit, a first electrode, a second electrode and an optical layer. The organic light-emitting unit includes an organic light-emitting layer, a first and a second major surface. The first electrode is provided on the first major surface. The second electrode is provided on the second major surface and includes a conductive layer, a first interconnection and a second interconnection. The first interconnection is electrically connected to the conductive layer and aligned in a first direction parallel to the first major surface. The second interconnection is electrically connected to the conductive layer and aligned apart from the first interconnection and parallel to the first interconnection. The optical layer is provided on a side of the second electrode opposite to the organic light-emitting unit and includes a low refractive index portion and a high refractive index portion.

Light having a wavelength to be absorbed by a target object is irradiated from a light irradiating unit toward a subject while varying its intensity in the course of time. At least two detecting elements arrayed along a scanning direction detect a component having a large time delay out of the light propagated through the subject, for example, as departing from the light irradiating unit. By comparing measured data on the basis of the light detected by the at least two detecting elements with measured data in the case where the target object is not present in a light irradiation region, the depth of the target object at a location of the light irradiating unit is acquired.

An invisible symbol reading apparatus includes a heating unit for heating an invisible symbol formed on a sample and containing a material which emits infrared light when heated, a detecting unit for detecting infrared light emitted from the invisible symbol, and an arithmetic operation unit for binarizing a detection signal from the detecting unit. The arithmetic operation unit calculates a differential coefficient of the detection signal, that corresponds to a position on the sample. On the basis of upper and lower threshold values set for the differential coefficient, the arithmetic operation unit determines a maximum value of the differential coefficient in a region exceeding the upper threshold value and a minimum value of the differential coefficient in a region smaller than the lower threshold value. The arithmetic operation unit binarizes the detection signal by using the maximum or minimum value as a leading or trailing edge of a binary function.
