The present disclosure relates to an overcurrent protection inverter, and more particularly, to an inverter, which uses a leg-shunt resistor so as to detect an instantaneous maximum output current and an AD current, thereby performing an inverter protection operation. The present disclosure detects the instantaneous maximum output current and detects the AD current from the leg-shunt resistor so as to perform an overcurrent protection operation when an overcurrent occurs in the entire inverter operation section, thereby enabling protection of the inverter.

The present invention relates to a method for controlling an inverter to prevent an unnecessary fan trip. The method includes: receiving a fan current; when the fan current is above a high trip level or is below a low trip level, incrementing an error count; when the error count reaches an error count maximum value, incrementing a trip count and initializing the error count; and when the trip count reaches a trip count maximum value, generating a fan trip signal.

In some embodiments, a control power supply device for an inverter may include a main switched-mode power supply (SMPS) for supplying rated voltages to a controller and an auxiliary circuit of the inverter, an auxiliary SMPS configured to be operated when the main SMPS is interrupted to supply the rated voltages to the controller and the auxiliary circuit of the inverter; and an SMPS controller configured to sense an output voltage from the main SMPS, determine whether the sensed voltage is within a normal range and interrupt the main SMPS and operate the auxiliary SMPS if not, and transmit trip information to the controller.
