A field emission display (FED). A vacuum assembly is formed with first and second substrates and a sealant. An electron emission assembly is formed on the first substrate and emits electrons by the formation of electric fields. An illumination assembly is formed on the second substrate and realizes a display of images by electrons emitted from the electron emission assembly. The illumination assembly includes a transparent conductive layer formed on the second substrate and having an anode input terminal that extends outside the vacuum assembly and to which an anode voltage is applied, a phosphor screen formed on the transparent conductive layer, and a metal layer formed on the phosphor screen within the vacuum assembly in such a manner that a portion of the metal layer contacts the transparent conductive layer.

Field emission display having damage prevention anode input terminal layers

A field emission display. Gate electrodes are formed in a predetermined pattern on a first substrate. An insulation layer is formed on the first substrate covering the gate electrodes. Cathode electrodes are formed in a predetermined pattern on the insulation layer. Emitters are provided electrically contacting the cathode electrodes. A second substrate is provided opposing the first substrate with a predetermined gap therebetween. The first substrate and the second substrate form a vacuum container. An anode electrode is formed on a surface of the second substrate opposing the first substrate. Phosphor layers are formed in a predetermined pattern on the anode electrode. Portions of the cathode electrodes are removed to form emitter-receiving sections. Fences are formed between the emitter-receiving sections, one of the emitters being provided in each of the emitter-receiving sections electrically contacting the cathode electrodes.

Field emission display having emitter arrangement structure capable of enhancing electron emission characteristics

A field emission display includes a first substrate. At least one gate electrode is formed in a predetermined pattern on the first substrate. A plurality of cathode electrodes is formed on the first substrate in a predetermined pattern. At least one first insulation layer is formed between the at least one gate electrode and the plurality of cathode electrodes. Emitters are mounted within openings of the cathode electrodes formed in the cathode electrodes. A second insulation layer having a plurality of channels is formed on the cathode electrodes such that the emitters are positioned within the channels. At least one focusing electrode is formed on the second insulation layer. A second substrate is provided opposing the first substrate with a predetermined gap therebetween. At least one anode electrode is formed on a surface of the second substrate opposing the first substrate. Phosphor layers are formed on the anode electrode in a predetermined pattern.

Field emission display having carbon-based emitters

A field emission display includes a first substrate. At least one gate electrode is formed in a predetermined pattern on the first substrate. A plurality of cathode electrodes is formed in a predetermined pattern on the first substrate to form intersection regions with the at least one gate electrode. An Insulation layer is formed between the at least one gate electrode and the plurality of cathode electrodes. At least one pair of emitters is electrically connected to the cathodes electrodes. A second substrate is provided opposing the first substrate with a predetermined gap therebetween. At least one anode electrode is formed on the second substrate. Phosphor layers are formed on the second substrate electrically connected to the at least one anode electrode.

A field emission display includes first and second substrates provided with a predetermined gap therebetween. At least one gate electrode is formed on the first substrate. Cathode electrodes are formed in a predetermined pattern, the cathode electrodes including openings where the cathode electrodes intersect the gate electrode. An insulation layer is formed between the at least one gate electrode and the cathode electrodes. Counter electrodes are formed smaller than and within the openings. Emitters are provided contacting the cathode electrodes. An anode electrode is formed on at least one side of the second substrate. Phosphor layers are formed in a predetermined pattern on at least one side of the anode electrode. Two of the emitters are provided on opposite sides of each of the counter electrodes, each of the emitters including two short sides contacting the corresponding cathode electrode and one long side.

Field emission display device

A field emission display includes a first substrate, cathode electrodes formed on the first substrate, conductive layers formed on the cathode electrodes having first apertures to expose portions of the cathode electrodes, an insulating layer formed on the conductive layers and having second apertures communicating with the first apertures, gate electrodes formed on the insulating layer and having third apertures communicating with the second apertures, emitters formed on the cathode electrodes and within the first apertures, a second substrate provided opposing the first substrate with a predetermined gap therebetween; and an anode layer formed on the second substrate, and phosphor layers formed on the anode electrode. In a first direction, second and third measurements of the second and third apertures are larger than a first measurement of the first apertures, and each of the emitters is realized in an integral unit.

Field emission display device having carbon-based emitters

The present invention provides a flat panel display device in which a liquid coating method is used to form various function films that improve contrast and color sense, and prevent external light reflection. The flat panel display device includes a flat display panel for realizing predetermined images and including a front substrate and a rear substrate provided opposing one another with a predetermined gap therebetween, and a filter provided on at least one side of the flat display panel to improve display characteristics. The filter includes a transparent baseplate, and a transmissivity control film that has pigmentation and is formed on at least one side of the baseplate using a liquid coating method. With the use of the liquid coating method to form the filter, productivity is increased, manufacturing costs are minimized, and scratch resistance is provided.

Flat panel display device

An electron gun for a cathode ray tube includes a single cathode that emits thermions; first and second electrodes; a plurality of focus electrodes provided consecutively after the second electrode; an anode electrode mounted after a final focus electrode; and a support that supports the electrodes in an aligned configuration. The final focus electrode and the anode electrode are mounted opposing one another with a predetermined gap therebetween. If a lengthwise direction of phosphor layers forming a phosphor screen of the cathode ray tube is a Y axis direction, and a direction perpendicular to the Y axis direction is an X axis direction, an electron beam aperture formed in a portion of the final focus electrode opposing the anode electrode, and an electron beam aperture formed in the anode electrode have diameters in the X axis direction that are larger than corresponding diameters of electron beam apertures formed in the remaining electrodes.

Electron gun for cathode ray tube

An electron gun for a cathode ray tube includes a cathode for radiating thermal electrons, control and screen electrodes disposed away from the cathode at a predetermined distance in respective order, a focus electrode disposed away from the screen electrode, the focus electrode having upper and lower cylinders and an inclined portion disposed between the upper and lower cylinders, and an anode electrode formed in a cylindrical shape, the upper cylinder, the inclined portion, and a part of the lower cylinder are disposed in the anode electrode. A length S of the upper cylinder in a direction of a tube axis is less than a length T of the inclined portion.

A shadow mask frame assembly includes hook springs made of a plate-like bimetal member whose outer side is a high-expansion side and inner side is a low-expansion side, is fixed on a frame in the direction of an electron beam proceeding axis, and is nearly L-shaped to have a fixing portion welded to the base of the frame and a fitting portion having a fitting hole into which a stud pin on the inner side of a panel is fitted. The shadow mask frame assembly is not distorted or rotated with respect to the panel during the thermal expansion of a shadow mask due to electron beam collision, and is sufficiently compensated only in the direction of the electron beam's proceeding axis.

An electron gun heater supporting structure includes a pair of supporting pieces respectively mounted on separate opposed glass beads of an electron gun and U-shaped connecting pieces disposed between the pair of supporting pieces for welding terminals of a heater thereto, the connecting pieces including position determining elements for determining the positions of the connecting pieces relative to the supporting pieces for welding them together. According to the present invention, the welding positions can be exactly determined and the uniformity of heater positions can be realized.
