A phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) may be transmitted to enable a receiver to correct phase noise in wireless communication. A UE scheduled for one PDSCH with DMRS ports in two or more DMRS CDM groups that are associated with two TCI states may be configured for PT-RS using two PT-RS ports. Therefore, rather than limiting PT-RS to a single port, the PT-RS may be transmitted to the UE using two PT-RS ports. The apparatus transmits a capability indication for more than one PT-RS port for receiving a downlink shared channel based on a first TCI and a second TCI. The apparatus receives a configuration for a maximum number of downlink PT-RS ports from a base station.

In some implementations, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, at a user equipment (UE) from a base station, a downlink control information (DCI) scheduling a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH). In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a capability of the UE relating to a carrier configuration of the UE, wherein the carrier configuration relates to carriers of at least two different numerologies; and transmit information identifying the capability, wherein the information identifying the capability identifies a bandwidth or number of carriers that is supported for carriers of a first numerology and one or more scaling values associated with one or more numerologies other than the first numerology. A base station may receive information identifying a capability of a UE relating to a carrier configuration of the UE, wherein the carrier configuration relates to carriers of at least two different numerologies; and determine a configuration for communication with the UE based at least in part on the information identifying the capability. Techniques for demodulation reference signal time domain pattern configuration

Techniques for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may initially configure a set of channel estimation parameters for a set of radio frequency spectrum subbands of a bandwidth part (BWP) of a transmission opportunity (TxOP). In some examples, the UE may identify an unavailable radio frequency spectrum subband within the BWP. Based on the identification, the UE may reconfigure the channel estimation parameters to avoid performing unnecessary channel estimation processes on the unavailable radio frequency spectrum subband. As part of reconfiguring the channel estimation parameters, the UE may set log-likelihood ratio (LLR) values of subcarriers associated with the unavailable radio frequency spectrum subband to a null value, thereby experiencing improvements in efficiency and reliability of channel estimation for the BWP.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support channel quality reporting using random access messages. A user equipment (UE) may receive a random access message from a base station and respond with an indication of channel quality information for a communication link between the base station and the UE. The indication may be generated by a single protocol layer of a control plane protocol stack (e.g., a radio resource control (RRC) or media access control (MAC) layer). The channel quality information may be included in the RRC message or in a header of the MAC layer from the UE. The UE may transmit, to the base station, an indication of identified channel quality information. Upon receiving the response message from the UE, the base station may determine communication parameter(s) (e.g., coding rate, modulation order, number of repetitions of a channel) for future communications with the UE.

In some aspects, a user equipment may determine a relationship between a first set of antenna ports, used for demodulation reference signals (DMRS) associated with a machine-type communication physical downlink control channel (MPDCCH) and used for the MPDCCH, and a second set of antenna ports used for cell-specific reference signals (CRS); receive CRS on one or more antenna ports of the second set of antenna ports; and receive the MPDCCH using at least the CRS based at least in part on the relationship. Using cell-specific reference signals for a machine-type communication physical downlink control channel

Disclosed are techniques for transmitting and receiving an extended narrowband positioning reference signal (NPRS) sequence. In an aspect, a base station generates the extended NPRS sequence and transmits, to at least one user equipment (UE) over a wireless narrowband channel, the extended NPRS sequence. In an aspect, a UE receives, over the wireless narrowband channel, an NPRS of a first subset of the extended NPRS sequence and measures the NPRS of the first subset of the extended PRS sequence. In an aspect, the extended NPRS sequence may be a function of a plurality of slot numbers of a plurality of slots of a plurality of sequential radio frames and a plurality of symbol indexes of a plurality of symbols of a single physical resource block.

Bandwidth-dependent positioning reference signal (PRS) transmission for narrowband internet of things (NB-IoT) observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) positioning

Some techniques and apparatuses described herein protect components of a user equipment (UE), such as a low noise amplifier (LNA), from internal interference. For example, the LNA may be disconnected from a receive chain during periods of high internal interference, and may be reconnected to the receive chain during periods of low internal interference. Furthermore, some techniques and apparatuses described herein improve performance by adjusting operations of the UE to account for and/or offset increased internal interference due to a receive chain that does not include a surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter to remove unwanted radio frequency signals. For example, one or more operations of a baseband processor may be modified to account for the increased internal interference. Additionally, or alternatively, reporting of channel state information may be modified to account for increased internal interference of the UE. Additional details are described herein.

Filterless multiple input multiple output (MIMO) reception

An entity, such as a mobile device or base station, measures downlink position referencing signals (PRS) occasions or uplink position sounding referencing signal occasions for supporting estimating the position of the mobile device. The entity, for example, performs a plurality of positioning measurements from a plurality of consecutive PRS occasions received in a bundle from one or more base stations or from a mobile device. Each PRS occasion may include one or more slots and may be narrowband or non-narrowband. The bundled, e.g., consecutive, PRS occasions may be transmitted with a periodicity that is sufficient to maintain a desired throughput. Moreover, with the use of bundled PRS occasions, power consumption of the mobile device, as well as effects of clock drift and mobile device movement, may be minimized.

Method and apparatus for estimating a position of a mobile device using bundled positioning reference signals

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may measure a physical channel such as a narrowband physical broadcast channel (NPBCH) to supplement (e.g., or as an alternative to) reference signal measurements when determining a received signal measurement, such as a received signal strength or received signal quality of a cell. A base station may transmit an indication to a UE that identifies the frequency at which a portion of NPBCH transmissions (e.g., reserved fields of a master information block (MIB)) is expected to change from one NPBCH transmission to another. The UE may adjust its utilization of NPBCH for determining the received signal measurement based on the indication. Further, the UE may communicate with the cell based on the determination of the received signal measurement, which are based on the indication.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a first information element (IE) and a second IE, wherein the first IE indicates whether all UEs that do not support cell-specific reference signal (CRS) muting are barred from a carrier and the second IE indicates whether all UEs that support CRS muting are barred from the carrier; and selectively access the carrier based at least in part on at least one of the first IE or the second IE. In some aspects, a UE may determine whether the UE supports cell-specific reference signal (CRS) muting; and transmit, to a base station, a capability report that indicates whether the UE supports CRS muting.
