A multi-pass type image forming apparatus allows driving-couplings to couple with and separate from an image-carrier and developing units simultaneously. The apparatus includes a main body, a cover to open or close the main body, an image-carrier unit including an image-carrier and first driven-coupling connected to the image-carrier, developing units including a developing roller and a second driven-coupling connected to the developing roller, first and second driving-couplings to transmit drive power to the first and second driven-couplings, a link unit to move in a first direction in linkage with opening/closing operations of the cover, and a guide unit to be rotatable about the first driving-coupling in linkage with the link unit, the guide unit being moved when rotated about the first driving-coupling so as to couple or separate the first and second driving-couplings to or from the first and second driven-couplings.

Multi-pass type image forming apparatus

Disclosed herein are an image forming apparatus and a control method thereof. In the image forming apparatus, an intermediate transfer member is provided with a position identification mark, to enable sensing of a position of the intermediate transfer member after a cleaning unit is completely spaced apart from the intermediate transfer member. An image formation/transfer position can be controlled in response to a sensing signal of the position identification mark, so that respective colors of developer images may be formed and transferred to the same position on the intermediate transfer member in a state in which contact between the cleaning unit and the intermediate transfer member is released. This minimizes and/or prevents color discrepancy between the respective colors of developer images.

An image forming apparatus having an improved power-transmission assembly to drive a developing cartridge mounted in a main body of the apparatus. The apparatus includes a main body, at least one driving coupling unit rotatably located in a side region of the main body, at least one driven coupling unit connected to a rotator inside a developing cartridge, and a coupling holder in which the driving and driven coupling units are connected to each other to enable a power-transmission from the driving coupling unit to the driven coupling unit. The driving coupling unit includes a first spherical portion to come into contact with one side of an inner surface of the coupling holder when received in the coupling holder. The driven coupling unit includes a second spherical portion to come into contact with the other side of the inner surface of the coupling holder when received in the coupling holder.

Image forming apparatus and power-transmission assembly of the same

Disclosed is an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus includes a body frame, a support roller placed at one side of a movement path of a printing medium, a transfer roller assembly placed at the other side of the movement path of the printing medium at a position adjacent to the support roller, and a door to open or close the body frame so as to expose the movement path of the printing medium. The transfer roller assembly has a rotating axis kept at a fixed position of the body frame, and is moved away from the support roller in linkage with an opening operation of the door.
