A mounting assembly has a machine element with a threaded coaxial bore on a shaft, for rotation with the shaft. A split sleeve having external threads is provided and adapted to be fit into the element's threaded bore and mounted around the shaft at any desired position longitudinally and circumferentially. The threads of the split sleeve have apexes at a uniform diameter when unstressed. The threads of the split sleeve are shaped to cause contraction of the sleeve, when threaded into the element's bore, to secure gripping engagement with the shaft so that it frictionally clamps onto the machine element.

Machine element mounting assembly

A paper folder including an input drive roller arrangement having an input drive roller with a circumferential gap, and an idler roller forming an input nip with the input drive roller for advancing a paper sheet into a housing; a flexible stripper pad of high friction material positioned at the circumferential gap; a fixed guide which guides the sheet into a loop turning back upon itself such that a leading edge of the sheet impinges upon a transverse line in a trailing portion of the sheet; an output roller arrangement in the housing which forms a folding nip extending along and adjacent to the transverse line; a second drive arrangement in the housing in front of the transverse line for positively driving the leading edge to impinge upon the transverse line; and a stocker mounted on the housing for stocking a plurality of fully folded paper-like sheets.

Automatic paper folder

For mounting a machine element having a bore coaxially on a shaft for rotation with the shaft, there are provided a first member having internal threads, and a split sleeve having external threads adapted to be mounted around the shaft and inside the bore. The threads of the split sleeve have apexes at a uniform diameter when unstressed. The first member is threaded on the external threads of the split sleeve. Also, a second member is spaced from the first member by an amount sufficient to allow the first and second members to embrace opposite sides of the machine element. The threads of the first member and the split sleeve are shaped to cause contraction of the sleeve into fast, gripping engagement with the shaft, as the first and second members frictionally clamp the machine element between these first and second members.

Mounting device

A guide, serving as a platform for a portable, electric circular saw and the saw base plate, presents a trackway in which, slidably, to receive the base plate, and removably mounts a channel element, thereunder, for abuttingly receiving a workpiece, that is a piece of lumber, against the element for cutting by the saw. In one embodiment, the channel element disposes the lumber for cross-cutting. In another embodiment, the channel element disposes the lumber for rip-sawing. The platform is selectively mounted to a support, in inverted attitude, for converting the circular saw to a table saw.

Guiding means, for a circular saw base plate

A housing confines therewithin a saturated sponge, the same disposed for moistening the flap of an envelope. Too, the housing has a entry slot for an envelope, and a switch, with an operating sensor or limb which detects the entry of an envelope into the housing, for the purpose of rotating rollers which (a) move the envelope from the entry slot to an exit, and (b) cause the flap to wipe across the sponge and seal against the body of the envelope.

Envelope flap sealing device

A first roller and its companion plate comprise structures for moving an envelope into a framework, and a second roller and its companion plate comprise structure for moving a document into the envelope, while the envelope is held open for insertion of the document. Switching devices detect the entry of the envelope and document and cause a gearing arrangement to rotate the rollers, to move the envelope to a document-receiving disposition within the framework, and to move the document into the envelope.

Envelope stuffer

Paired, coacting, albeit non-contacting rollers have interfitting collars or rings, and tapered rims, which are rotatably driven in opposite directions. Paper fed therebetween is torn asunder, and freely discharged therefrom. The rings cooperate together to force the paper to be torn lengthwise thereof, and the rims crease the resulting strips to insure that they do not remain lodged between the rings. An embodiment has helical rings or collars which cause the paper to be dismembered into diagonally-shaped, fine fragments.

Paper-tearing rollers assembly

A housing, having therein only one, driven, rotatable drum, receives sheet paper for in-folding or Z-folding, selectively. Abutments, within the housing, delimit travel of the leading edge of the paper, causing the paper to buckle, there behind, and form a nip or fold; the latter is directed between the drum and a guide to one of the abutments, causing the paper to fold again. Then the fully folded paper is discharged from the housing. One of the abutments is retractable, to accommodate a Z-fold, or extendable to enable an in-fold.

Folder for sheet paper such as letter-mail, fliers and the like

A flexible leaf causes the gummed flap of an envelope to enter a chamber in which a moistening element is exposed. In addition, a pivoted and spring-biased element yields upon engagement of the envelope spine therewith. Further movement of the envelope wipes the flap across the moistening element, and the spring-biased element presses the moistened flap against the body of the envelope.

A liquid applicator with reservoir within a housing with a slot through which the material, or in this embodiment, the envelope flap, is drawn to activate the previously applied adhesive thereon.

Apparatus for folding a paper sheet includes a pair of spaced parallel flaps pivotally mounted on a frame. A die has an inner side and is mounted on the frame between the flaps to allow insertion of the paper sheet to a loaded position on the inside of the die and in front of the flaps. An actuator is coupled to the flaps for alternately closing them against the inner side of the die to doubly fold the paper sheet.

Apparatus for folding a paper sheet

Apparatus for automatically folding one or more sheets of paper into three substantially equal sections for later insertion into a mailing envelope. Rollers are used to introduce the sheet into a guide which guides the leading edge of the sheet back against an upstream line in the same sheet, where a first fold is to be made. Upon further operation, the lead edge of the sheet forces the upstream line in the sheet into a nip between two rollers, which then seize, pass and fold the sheet along the upstream line with the leading edge of the sheet still within the fold. Still further operation pulls the remaining loop and the remaining upstream portion of the sheet into the roller nip to form the desired second fold. The guide has a radially-inwardly biased input portion which, when the leading edge strikes the upstream portion of the sheet, moves radially outward, and later returns inwardly under spring pressure to assist in urging the leading edge of the sheet, and the upstream line in the sheet, into the folding roller nip.

A mounting device can mount a machine element having a bore coaxially on a shaft. The mounting device has a first member having internal threads. Also, included is a split sleeve having external threads adapted to be mounted around the shaft and inside the bore. The threads of the split sleeve have apexes at a uniform diameter when unstressed. The first member is threaded on the external threads of the split sleeve. The mounting device also has a second member spaced from the first member by an amount sufficient to allow the first and second members to embrance the machine element. The threads of the first member and split sleeve are shaped to cause compression of the sleeve as the first and second members embrace the machine element.

A paper sheet feeding apparatus is constructed of paper feed rollers arranged in association with a respective paper tray and adapted to be driven by rotation of a printer platen in a forward paper feeding direction, with selection of the appropriate paper tray from which paper is to be fed, by a combination of forward and reverse rotations of the printer platen. The paper feed rollers, associated with each of the paper trays, are mounted on shafts which extend transversely of the apparatus. A plurality of driven gear assemblies are respectively arranged in operative association with the paper feed rolls and are adapted for lateral sliding movement between engaged and disengaged positions relative to a selector gear whose rotation is synchronized with that of the printer platen. In the disengaged position, no drive coupling is provided between the printer platen and the paper feed rollers, whereas in the engaged position, the associated paper feed rollers are coupled to the printer platen via its associated driven gear assembly and the selector gear. The selector gear is mounted on the apparatus and is adapted to be selectively coupled to the printer platen via means of a spring loaded drive arm selectively engagable with a drive pulley which together transfer rotation from the printer platen. In addition to sheets of paper, the paper sheet feeding apparatus accommodates envelopes to be fed from a supply thereof.

Paper sheet feeding apparatus

A paper tray for a printing device is disclosed having a pair of paper supporting members, movable relative to one another, for supporting the lateral sides of a stack of individual sheets of paper. The movability of the paper supporting members relative to one another allows the paper tray to accommodate stacks of individual sheets of paper having different widths or size. The paper supporting members are provided with a concave paper supporting surface such that the stack of individual sheets of paper assumes a concave shape, thereby having sufficient mechanical strength to be self-supporting in the unsupported region between the paper supporting members. The curved shape of the stack is provided, in part, by a forwardly arranged paper pressing plate which is rotatable about an axis spaced from the rotational axis of a control rod which is adapted for rotating the paper pressing plate into a position for replenishing the individual sheets of paper within the stack. As the stack is depleted, the paper pressing plate maintains engagement of the top sheet of paper within the stack with a pair of spaced apart paper feed rollers, whose operation supplies the top sheet to the platen of the printing device.
