A sheet stacking tray apparatus for receiving sheets discharged from an image forming apparatus such as a printer or copying machine. The sheets are correctly stacked, that is, without inclination or deviation. The tray apparatus according to the present invention is such that the speed at which the sheet is discharged to the tray apparatus is reduced when the tray apparatus receives the sheet material. And, the sheet is laterally shifted so as to correct the lateral deviation thereof. The tray is lowered in accordance with the amount of the sheets so as to keep a proper height thereof with respect to the discharging outlet from which it receives the sheet. An auxiliary sheet stacking plate is provided operable in association with the lowering of the tray so as to raise the sheet receiving side thereof so as to keep the sheet material on the tray horizontal.

Tray apparatus

A sheet finisher apparatus includes a supporting device for supporting a stack of sheets; a stapler; a moving mechanism for moving the stapler between a clinching position for clinching the sheets on the supporting device by the stapler and a retracted position away from the clinching position; a clinching mechanism for effecting the stapling action of the stapler at the clinching position; and a drive transmitting device for effecting by one driving source movement of the stapler by the moving mechanism and a clinching operation by the clinching mechanism.

An image forming apparatus having a carriage carrying plural developing unit is movable along a rectilinear predetermined path to provide a desired developing unit adjacent a photosensitive member of the image forming apparatus. A sheet original feeding apparatus includes a sheet original stacking tray on which sheet originals to be treated are stacked as an original stack; a sheet original separating means for separating and supplying the sheet original one by one from the bottom of the original stack stacked on the sheet original stacking tray; a sheet original feeding path for directing the sheet original separated by the sheet original separating means; a sheet original feeding means for feeding the sheet original directed by the original feeding path to an image reading portion; a sheet original ejecting path for ejecting the sheet original fed by the sheet original feeding means to the sheet original stacking tray; and an auxiliary sheet original feeding apparatus which can be connected to the sheet original ejecting path. An invention document feeder is provided with a first sheet path for guiding a document from stacker to below after inversion, a second sheet path branched from the first sheet path in a switchback fashion for guiding the sheet to a process position, and a third sheet path branched from the first sheet path in a switchback fashion for discharging the sheet, discharged from the process position, to a receiver after inversion.

Original document feeder

A sheet original feeding apparatus comprises a sheet original stacking tray on which sheet originals to be treated are stacked as an original stack. A sheet original separator separates and supplies the sheet original one by one from the bottom of the original stack stacked on the sheet original stacking tray. A sheet original feeding path is provided for directing the sheet original separated by the sheet original separator. A sheet original feeder feeds in a forward direction the sheet original directed by the original feeding path to an image reading portion. The sheet original feeding means is also operable in a reverse direction, and the sheet original feeding path is arranged at one side of the sheet original feeder. A first sheet original ejecting path is further provided for returning the sheet original fed in the reverse direction by the sheet original feeder to the sheet original stacking tray from a same side of the sheet original feeder as the sheet original feeding path. A second sheet original ejecting path returns the sheet original fed in the forward direction by the sheet original feeder to the sheet original stacking tray. The second sheet original ejection path is arranged at a side opposite to the sheet original feeder means as the sheet original feeding path.

An original feeding device has a supporting device for supporting originals thereon, a partition sheet inserted between a plurality of aggregations of originals supported on the supporting device for the partition of the aggregations of originals, a feed device for feeding the supported originals one by one, a sheet path for directing the originals fed by the feed device to an original processing station, and a device provided in the sheet path to detect the partition sheet fed by the feed device and detect the partition between the aggregations of originals.

Original feeding device

This specification discloses an automatic original feeding device for automatically feeding an original to an optical processing station in an image forming apparatus body. The automatic original feeding device is characterized by original feeding means having a guide for guiding the original to the optical processing station, conveying means for conveying the original guided by the guide to the optical processing station, and drive transmitting means for driving the conveying means by movement of the original carriage of the image forming apparatus, and change-over means for selectively restraining the original feeding means with respect to the image forming apparatus body or the original carriage. The specification also discloses an image forming apparatus provided with such automatic original feeding device. The optical processing station refers to a station for optically processing the original, such as the exposure station of an electrophotographic copying apparatus or the reading station of a facsimile apparatus, an optical character reading apparatus or the like. The image forming apparatus refers to an apparatus for recording the surface of an original, such as an electrophotographic copying apparatus, a facsimile apparatus or an optical character reading apparatus. The original refers to a member having information to be recorded or transmitted.

Image forming apparatus with two mode original handling system
