A method for producing a single-crystal thin film includes, for example, applying a chemical solution containing raw materials for a single-crystal thin film composed of (BaSrCa)TiO(wherein x+y+z=1.0) by spin coating on a thin film composed of BaZrOformed on a MgO(100) surface of a MgO(100) substrate and subjecting the applied chemical solution to heat treatment at a temperature at which orientation occurs, thereby epitaxially growing a single-crystal thin film composed of (BaSrCa)TiO.

A metal powder is formed by the steps of preparing a reducing agent solution, preparing a mixed metallic salt solution by dissolving a nickel salt and a copper salt in a solvent, and mixing the reducing agent solution and the mixed metallic salt solution so that the copper salt is reduced to precipitate copper particle nuclei and then the nickel salt is reduced to precipitate nickel around the copper particle nuclei. Provided is a method for manufacturing a metal powder by providing a reducing solution by dispersing caustic alkali, and hydrazine and/or hydrazine hydrate into a solvent; providing a metal salt solution comprising a salt of electroconductive metal, a rare earth metal salt and a solvent; and mixing the reducing solution with the metal salt solution to form a metal powder by depositing a hydroxide derived from the rare earth metal salt and by reducing the salt of electroconductive metal. With this metal powder manufacturing method, the sintering of the metal powder is restricted at a low temperature, the sintering initiation temperature is shifted to a higher level, and rapid sintering shrinkage is restricted, while ceramic grain growth is not accelerated.

A method for producing metal powder which involves the step of making an alkaline hydroxide, hydrazine or a hydrazine hydrate, and a metallic salt co-exist in a solvent comprising an alcohol, at least a portion of each being dissolved; wherein, in the step, metal powder comprising a metal contained in the metallic salt is precipitated by reducing the metallic salt with the hydrazine or the hydrazine hydrate. By the above method, a metal powder having a particle size of about 100 nm or less can be obtained and the metal powder is not contaminated with impurities originating from the reducing agent.
