A process of fabricating a porous silicone product utilizing a silicone emulsion capable of forming an elastomer by removal of water therefrom. The silicone emulsion comprises a water emulsion of an organopolysiloxane, a cross-linking agent, and a curing catalyst. The process comprises the steps of freezing the silicone emulsion, and drying the frozen silicone emulsion, whereby water is sublimed therefrom and the porous silicone product is obtained. The resulting porous silicone product is best utilized as a selective permeable membrane for separation of a liquid component from a liquid solution containing two or more liquid components.

Process for fabricating porous silicone product

An improved method for separating a particular liquid component from a solution containing two or more liquid components. The method employs a vessel divided into a solution chamber and a vacuum chamber by a permeable membrane which is a porous membrane exhibiting a superior affinity to the particular component intended to be separated than to the other components. The solution is placed in the solution chamber out of direct contact with the permeable membrane at which condition a vacuum is applied to the vacuum chamber to evaporate the solution in the chamber and draw the resulting vapors through the permeable membrane into the vacuum chamber, thereby collecting the particular component from the solution in a vapor-to-vapor permeation through the permeable membrane.

Method for separating a liquid component from a solution containing two

A novel selective permeable membrane is made by cross-linking of chitosan by aldehyde, preferably by dialdehyde. The dialdehyde cross-linked membrane has a remarkably high separation efficiency for water-alcohol solution due to hydrophilic property of chitosan and its very dense structure obtained by the cross-linking of chitosan with dialdehyde.

Selective permeable membrane for separation of liquid solution

A novel method of separating a particular component from its liquid solution by the use of a vessel divided into a solution chamber receiving the liquid solution and a vacuum chamber by a permeable membrane having selective permeability. The method is characterized to evacuate the vacuum chamber while keeping the liquid solution out of direct contact with the permeable membrane such that the permeation of the particular component through the permeable membrane can be effected in vapor-to-vapor phase environment, which is found to give a superior separation result for the liquid solution.
