A cell holder () for holding a secondary battery cell () including a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode active material, and an electrolyte which is disposed between the positive electrode active material and the negative electrode active material and is in contact with both the positive electrode active material and the negative electrode active material, and for outputting power from the secondary battery cell (), includes a cell holder body (), and a pressing portion () which is supported by the cell holder body () and includes a disc spring () being in contact with a first end face of the secondary battery cell () in a first direction and pressing the first end face of the secondary battery cell () in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

Cell holder

A fuel cell stack includes a first separator and a second separator. The first separator includes a first sandwiching section for sandwiching an electrolyte electrode assembly, a fuel gas supply section, and a first bridge section. A fuel gas supply passage extends through the fuel gas supply section in the stacking direction. The second separator includes a second sandwiching section for sandwiching the electrolyte electrode assembly, an oxygen-containing gas supply section, and a second bridge section. An oxygen-containing gas supply passage extends through the oxygen-containing gas supply section. A first displacement absorbing mechanism, a second displacement absorbing mechanism, a third displacement absorbing mechanism and a fourth displacement absorbing mechanism are provided in the fuel gas supply section, the oxygen-containing gas supply section, the first sandwiching section and the second sandwiching section for absorbing displacement generated in the fuel cell stack.

Fuel cell stack

A fuel cell stack includes a first separator. The first separator includes a sandwiching section for sandwiching an electrolyte electrode assembly, a fuel gas supply section in which a fuel gas supply passage is formed, and a first load absorbing mechanism. The first load absorbing mechanism includes coupling members and seal members. The coupling members couple fuel gas supply sections of a pair of the first separators together, and have spring property. The seal members seal the fuel gas supply section.

A fuel cell includes electrolyte electrode assembly and separators. An annular member and a ring foil are provided between the separators. The annular member is provided around an outer circumferential portion of the electrolyte electrode assembly, and includes grooves for discharging a first exhaust gas FGoff which has been consumed at an anode to the outside of the electrolyte electrode assembly. The ring foil is provided adjacent to a cathode, and extends from a position between an outer end of the electrolyte electrode assembly to a position between the annular member and the separator.

Fuel cell

A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack, a heat exchanger for heating an oxygen-containing gas using a heat medium before the oxygen-containing gas is supplied to the fuel cell stack, a reformer for reforming a raw fuel chiefly containing hydrocarbon to produce a fuel gas to be supplied to the fuel cell stack, a combustor for burning a raw fuel and an exhaust gas discharged from the fuel cell stack after consumption in power generation reaction to produce a combustion gas as the heat medium, a casing containing the fuel cell stack, the heat exchanger, the reformer, and the combustor. A combustion gas outlet of the combustor is directly opened to a combustion gas inlet of the fluid unit.

Fuel cell system

A fuel cell is formed by stacking an electrolyte electrode assembly and a pair of separators alternately. Each of the separators includes first to third plates. A first cylindrical portion provided at a first small diameter end portion of one separator is inserted into a fuel gas supply passage of the other separator. The first cylindrical portion is subjected to a crimping process such that a joint portion as a predetermined overlapping portion is formed integrally with the one separator and the other separator.

Plate-laminating type fuel cell

A fuel cell separator has a sandwiching section. The sandwiching section is connected to a fuel gas manifold through a bridge, and connected to an oxygen-containing gas manifold through a bridge. The circumferential length R of the sandwiching section, the width H of the bridges the length L of the bridges, and the outer diameter D of the manifolds satisfies relationships of 0.03&#x2266;H/R&#x2266;0.20, 0.01&#x2266;L/R&#x2266;0.55, and 0.06&#x2266;D/R&#x2266;0.32.

A fuel cell includes electrolyte electrode assembly and separators. An exhaust gas separation member is provided between the separators. The exhaust gas separation member includes an annular portion formed around an outer circumferential portion of the electrolyte electrode assembly, a seal portion fixed to the annular portion and sandwiched between the outer end of the electrolyte electrode assembly and one of the separators, and a stopper provided integrally with the annular portion and fixedly engaged with the other separator.

A first separator and a second separator make up separator bodies having the same shape, which are oriented 180&#xb0; opposite to each other. The first separator has first sandwiching sections sandwiching electrolyte electrode assemblies therebetween, along with fuel gas supply units. A fuel gas supply passage extends in a stacking direction through the fuel gas supply units. The second separator has second sandwiching sections and oxygen-containing gas supply units. An oxygen-containing gas supply passage extends in the stacking direction through the oxygen-containing gas supply units.

Fuel cell and fuel cell stack

A fuel cell includes an electrolyte electrode assembly and a pair of separators sandwiching the electrolyte electrode assembly. The separator includes first to third plates. A fuel gas channel is formed between the first and third plates. The fuel gas channel forms a fuel gas pressure chamber over an electrode surface of an anode. The fuel gas pressure chamber is divided into an inner pressure chamber and an outer pressure chamber an arc-shaped wall. Reforming catalyst is provided in the outer pressure chamber.

A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack, a combustor, a heat exchanger, and heat utilization equipment. Further, the fuel cell system includes a bypass channel and a control device. In the bypass channel, at least some of heat medium produced in the combustor is supplied to the heat utilization equipment, bypassing the heat exchanger. The control unit adjusts the supply of the heat energy supplied to the fuel cell stack through an oxygen-containing gas heated by the heat exchanger, and adjusts the heat energy of the heat medium which passes through the bypass channel, and which is supplied to the heat utilization equipment.

Fuel cell system and method of operating the fuel cell system

A fuel gas channel is divided into first and second fuel gas channel units by a partition. The first fuel gas channel unit has a fuel gas inlet for supplying a fuel gas before consumption from a fuel gas supply passage to a fuel gas flow field, and the second fuel gas channel unit has an exhaust fuel gas diverging holes for diverging at least some of an exhaust fuel gas used at an anode from the fuel gas flow field. The second fuel gas channel unit is connected to the fuel gas supply passage through an exhaust fuel gas diverging passage.

A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell, a fuel gas supply unit for supplying a fuel gas to the fuel cell, an oxygen containing gas supply unit, which has a heat exchanger for heating an oxygen-containing gas, for supplying the oxygen-containing gas heated by the heat exchanger to the fuel cell, an exhaust gas discharge unit for supplying an exhaust gas used in a generating reaction and discharged from the fuel cell, as a heating medium for heating the oxygen-containing gas to the heat exchanger, and a combustion gas supply unit, which has a combustor disposed out of a passageway of the exhaust gas discharge unit for generating a combustion gas by combusting a raw fuel with an oxygen-containing gas supplied thereto, for supplying the combustion gas, together with the exhaust gas, to the heat exchanger.

Fuel cell system and method of operating same

A fuel cell includes an electrolyte electrode assembly and separators. The separator has a fuel gas supply passage, a fuel gas distribution passage, an oxygen-containing gas supply passage, and an oxygen-containing gas distribution passage. The fuel gas flows through the fuel gas supply passage into the separator. The fuel gas distribution passage connects the fuel gas channel and the fuel gas supply passage. The oxygen-containing gas flows through the oxygen-containing gas supply passage into the separator. The oxygen-containing gas distribution passage connects the oxygen-containing gas channel and the oxygen-containing gas supply passage.

A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack, a heat exchanger, a reformer, and a casing containing the fuel cell stack, the heat exchanger, and the reformer. A chamber unit is formed at an end plate of the fuel cell stack. The air heated by the heat exchanger temporarily fills the chamber unit. The heat exchanger and the reformer are directly connected to the chamber unit.
