A method of manufacturing a driving drum includes: molding a first cylindrical member including first large- and small-diameter parts, a diameter of an outer circumferential surface of the first small-diameter part being smaller than that of the first large-diameter part; molding a second cylindrical member having second large- and small-diameter parts, a diameter of an inner circumferential surface of the second large-diameter part corresponding to the diameter of the outer circumferential surface of the first small-diameter part, a diameter of an inner circumferential surface of the second small-diameter part corresponding to that of the first small-diameter part, and the diameter of the inner circumferential surface of the second small-diameter part being smaller than that of the second large-diameter part; and forming a first cam groove between the first and second small-diameter parts and forming a second cam groove between the first and second large-diameter parts.

Method of manufacturing driving drum

A power transmission mechanism equipped with a first shaft including a first double helical gear, a second shaft including a second double helical gear and a third double helical gear arranged in alignment with the second double helical gear in an axial direction, and a third shaft including a fourth double helical gear that meshes with the third double helical gear. The second double helical gear includes a pair of right and left tooth portions whose torsional directions are reverse to each other such that the left tooth portion and the right tooth portion are offset in phase from each other, and the third double helical gear includes a pair of right and left tooth portions whose torsional directions are reverse to each other such that the left tooth portion and the right tooth portion are identical in phase to each other.

Power transmission mechanism

With respect to a relation between an amount of axial displacement of a first bearing as well as an amount of axial displacement of a second bearing relative to an axial force generated at a meshing part between a first double-helical gear and a second double-helical gear, and an amount of axial displacement of the second bearing as well as an amount of axial displacement of a third bearing relative to an axial force generated at a meshing part between a third double-helical gear and a fourth double-helical gear, the second bearing is configured to have a smaller amount of axial displacement than that of at least one of the first bearing and the third bearing.

An electrically heated catalyst device includes a catalyst support including a ceramics, on which a catalyst is supported, a pair of surface electrodes disposed on an outer surface of the catalyst support, the surface electrodes being disposed opposite to each other and extending in an axial direction of the catalyst support, and a wiring line that externally supplies electric power to the surface electrodes, in which the catalyst support is electrically heated through the surface electrodes. A wrought member made of metal is buried in the surface electrodes, the wrought member extending in the axial direction of the catalyst support. With the configuration like this, the spreading of electric currents in the catalyst-support axis direction can be maintained even when cracks occur in the catalyst-support circumference direction in the surface electrodes.

Electrically heated catalyst device and its manufacturing method

Disclosed is an exhaust air purification device, which enables heating a carrier uniformly and heating a catalyst supported on the carrier above an active temperature thereof even when an engine is run on a cold-start mode. Specifically disclosed is an exhaust air purification device, which includes a hollow case as an exterior, a cylindrical carrier housed in the case and having a catalyst supported thereon, and a pair of electrodes arranged on the outer circumferential surface of the carrier. In the device, the carrier is electrically heated through the pair of electrodes so that the catalyst is heated to an active temperature thereof. In the device, each of the pair of electrodes is placed on an arc-shaped outer circumferential segment of the carrier that has a central angle of 20 to 40 degrees, and the electrodes are opposed to each other with the phase difference of 180 degrees.

Exhaust air purification device

An electrode according to one aspect of the present invention is formed on a base material composed of a ceramics. The electrodes includes a matrix composed of an Ni&#x2014;Cr alloy (with a Cr content of 20 to 60 wt. %) or an MCrAlY alloy (M is at least one material selected from Fe, Co and Ni), and a disperse phase that is dispersed in the matrix and composed of an oxide mineral having a laminated structure. The ratio of area occupied by the disperse phase in a cross section of the electrode is 40 to 80%. With the structure like this, it is possible to suppress the increase in the electrical resistance even after a thermal cycle is performed.

Electrode, electrically heating type catalyst device using same, and manufacturing method of electrically heating type catalyst device

An electrically-heated catalyst is disclosed. The catalyst may include a carrier; more than two comb-shaped electrode portions extending in a longitudinal direction; an electrically conductive underlying layer provided between the carrier and the comb-shaped electrode portions; and more than two electrically conductive fixing layers bonding to at least one of the comb-shaped electrode portions and to the underlying layer to fix the comb-shaped electrode portions to the carrier at more than two points spaced apart.
