A card reader may include a magnetic sensor to detect whether magnetic data are recorded in the magnetic stripe of the card; a control section to supply electric power to the magnetic sensor and into which an output signal of the magnetic sensor is inputted; and a card insertion port into which the card is inserted and in which the magnetic sensor is disposed. The magnetic sensor may output an output signal when the electric power is supplied from the control section. The control section may supply the electric power to the magnetic sensor during a first supply time period which is shorter than a card passage time period.

Card reader and control method therefor

An MR sensor structured to detect whether or not magnetic data are recorded in a magnetic stripe of a card having first and second tracks may include a first resistor and a second resistor serially-connected with each other and disposed at positions where the first track is passed; and a third resistor and a fourth resistor serially-connected with each other and disposed at positions where the second track is passed. The second resistor and the fourth resistor may be connected with a power supply, and the first resistor and the third resistor may be ground grounded. A potential difference between a first midpoint between the first resistor and the second resistor and a second midpoint between the third resistor and the fourth resistor may be an output of the MR sensor.

A manufacturing method for a lens drive device provided with a lens drive module having a movable body, a fixed body and a drive mechanism for driving the movable body, and a circuit board on which the lens drive module is mounted may include a module assembling step in which the lens drive module is assembled, a module mounting step in which the lens drive module is soldered by a reflow method after the module assembling step to be mounted on the circuit board, and a magnetizing step in which a drive magnet of the drive mechanism is magnetized after the module mounting step so that a magnetic pole of one end face and a magnetic pole of the other end face in the optical axis direction are different from each other.

A fixing structure for an optical element includes a first element face of the optical element, a second element face of the optical element which is orthogonal to the first element face, a first positioning plane of a fixed member which abuts with the first element face of the optical element and is fixed on the first element face with an adhesive, and a second positioning plane of the fixed member which is orthogonal to the first positioning plane and abuts with the second element face of the optical element. The second positioning plane is defined by a small projecting part which protrudes from the fixed member perpendicularly with respect to the first positioning plane to abut with the second element face. A magnetic detector comprises a magnetic recording medium in which a magnetic signal of wavelength .lambda. generated by two types of opposing magnetic poles which are repeated at constant intervals is recorded and a magnetic resistance element that is arranged opposite to the magnetic recording medium and changes its resistivity value according to the change in a magnetic field. The magnetic resistance element is comprised of first and second current paths constructed of a plurality of magnetic resistance strips. The first current path and the second current path are connected in series with each other. Each magnetic strip of the first current path is arranged parallel to that of the second current path at an interval of .lambda./4 to form a plurality of magnetic resistance strip sets. Centers of the magnetic strip sets are spaced by 3n.lambda./4 from each other, where n is an integer of 1 or greater.
