PROBLEM There is provided a catalyst for producing ethylene oxide which is superior in catalytic selectivity and catalytic life (durability). SOLUTION There is provided a catalyst for producing ethylene oxide having a catalyst component supported on a carrier, wherein the carrier has specific surface area of 0.5 to 1.3 m/g, Si content (SiOequivalent) of 0.1 to 5.0% by mass and Na content (NaO equivalent) of 0.05 to 1.0% by mass, and the catalyst component is silver (Ag), cesium (Cs), rhenium (Re) and tungsten (W) or molybdenum (Mo).

Catalyst for producing ethylene oxide and method for producing ethylene oxide

A catalyst for producing alkylene oxide including fine metal silver particles dispersed and supported on a carrier, wherein not less than 90% of the fine metal silver particles have silver particle diameters of 2 to 100 nm, is disclosed. The catalyst can be produced by impregnating a carrier with a liquid containing a silver compound or a silver ion; drying the carrier; and then irradiating the carrier with microwave to form fine metal silver particles in dispersed state on the carrier. This catalyst is used for producing olefin oxide by contact gas-phase oxidation of olefin by a molecular-oxygen-containing gas.

Catalyst for producing alkylene oxide, method for producing the same, and method for producing alkylene oxide using said catalyst

As an improvement in the process for preparing unsaturated aldehydes and unsaturated carboxylic acids through vapor-phase catalytic oxidation of at least one starting compound selected from propylene, isobutylene, t-butanol and methyl-t-butyl ether with molecular oxygen or a molecular oxygen-containing gas, using a fixed bed shell-and-tube type reactor which is filled with shaped catalysts, a process capable of effectively inhibiting occurrence of hot spots or excessive heat generation at the hot spots and producing unsaturated aldehydes and unsaturated carboxylic acids at high yields is provided. This process is characterized in that plural shaped catalysts exhibiting different activity levels are prepared by varying: &lsqb;I&rsqb; content of inert component of the shaped catalyst and &lsqb;II&rsqb; at least one of the factors (a) occupation volume of the shaped catalyst, (b) kind and/or amount of the alkali metal(s) in the shaped catalyst, and (c) calcining temperature of the shaped catalyst; and which catalysts are filled in each of the reaction tubes in such a manner that the catalytic activity level rises from the reactant gas-inlet side of each reaction tube toward the outlet side.
