A serial printer comprises a printing head, a carrier for carrying the printing head, a platen, and a pair of guide members extending in parallel with the platen for supporting the carrier in a movable manner. An openable member is attached openably to the casing of the printer and supporting one of the guide members. Engaging receivers are formed in the carrier for allowing the one guide member to engage therewith and disengage therefrom in a direction substantially perpendicular to the extending direction of the one guide member. Engaging brackets may be mounted on the printing head for coming into and out of engagement with one of the guide members at a right angle with respect to the extending direction of the one guide member. Moving members may be supported movably in the casing of the printer for supporting the one guide member, when moved, to bring the one guide member into and out of an engagement with the engaging brackets. One of the pair of guide members can be supported by a front cover which can open and close a printer case. Because of the above described construction, the printing head guide can be made compact in size, light in weight and inexpensive to manufacture.

Serial printer

A motor driven shutter has diaphragm blades and shutter blades controlled by a single motor. The shutter comprises a driving member actuated by the motor, a diaphragm member for setting the diaphragm blades to a predetermined position via the driving member by the forward rotation of the motor, a closing member for operating the diaphragm blades to a closed position, and shutter blades urged in an open direction. The driving member sets the diaphragm blades to a predetermined position and further releases the shutter blades upon motor rotation in the reverse direction in a diaphragm setting process. The driving member closes the diaphragm blades by releasing the engagement of the closing member in the succeeding operation of the motor.

A focal-plane shutter for a camera includes two shutter blades each of which comprises two opaque plates. At least one of the two plates has a slit and is held at two points by two arms such that the plates move like a pantograph. The arms are pivotally mounted by eccentric pins to provide for adjusting the parallelism of the blades.

An automatic focusing camera includes a shutter; a range finding circuit for measuring the distances to a plurality of objects and for providing time base electrical signals corresponding thereto, the circuit including n parallel luminous elements which transmit light to the objects; a range and element position data arithmetic circuit for producing range data to the objects and element position data of active ones of the n elements, in response to the time base electrical signals; an object speed arithmetic circuit for producing time base speed signals corresponding to the object speeds, in response to the range data and the element position data; a shutter control circuit for controlling operation of the shutter in accordance with the object speeds at such time; object speed processors for supplying output signals corresponding to optimum exposure times and stop values of respective objects in response to the time base speed signals and luminances of the objects; and object speed rank order decision circuit for comparing the output signals from the object speed processors and for determining the order of ranking of the object speeds relative to each other and an object speed data organizing circuit for controlling the shutter control circuit in response to the object speed rank order decision circuit so as to control the shutter control circuit means in accordance with the highest speed object.

Automatic focusing camera

In a camera system for use in a camera of the type having a lens, a lens shutter, and automatic focusing utilizing the light transmitted through the lens, a light-blocking device is provided ahead of the image plane to be photographed and moveable between blocking and non-blocking positions, and a control device is operable upon manual actuation of the camera to open the shutter and provide for automatic focus adjustment utilizing the light transmitted through the lens, the control device further being operable to move the light-blocking device to its blocking position when the shutter is opened to provide for automatic focus adjustment and to subsequently move the light-blocking device to its non-blocking position to provide for exposure operation of the shutter to expose the film in the camera.

Camera system

A camera having a lens shutter and a focal-plane shutter, includes a selector circuit for selecting either a lens shutter mode or a focal-plane shutter mode; a first driving device for controlling either the programmed exposure value of the lens shutter or the size of the aperture, the first driving device including a motor and an actuating member driven by the motor, the actuating member including a peripheral surface with a first cam for controlling the programmed exposure value of the lens shutter in response to forward rotation of the motor, and a second cam for controlling the size of the aperture in response to reverse rotation of the motor, the first cam having an inclination in a first direction and the second cam having a less steep inclination in an opposite direction; a pivotally mounted opening lever connecting the lens shutter to the actuating member, the lever defining a first arm and a second arm, the first arm in engagement with the actuating member and the second arm connected with the lens shutter, a first pin on the first arm which rides on the cams, and a second pin on the second arm to pivotally connect with shutter blades of the lens shutter; a spring biasing the first pin into engagement with the cams; a second driving device controlling the time of operation of the focal-plane shutter mode; and a sequential control circuit controlling the driving devices.

Camera

A program shutter has a plurality of shutter sectors driven in opening and closing directions by a reversible stepping motor to define a lens aperture during an exposure operation. An arithmetic circuit calculates an exposure amount corresponding to the brightness of the object being photographed, and a counting circuit outputs a pulse count corresponding to the number of steps through which the stepping motor should be rotated based on the calculated exposure amount. A pulse circuit produces driving pulses equal in number to the number of steps determined by the counting circuit, and a time circuit determines the ON/OFF periods of the driving pulses based on the calculated exposure amount. The driving pulses are applied to the stepping motor through a driving circuit to accordingly drive the shutter sectors in the opening and closing directions during the exposure operation.

Program shutter

A focal-plane shutter base for use in a camera includes a base plate having a shutter opening. Two sets of blades, each of which consists of a plurality of sheets for blocking light, are mounted on the base plate at one side of the shutter opening. The blades are covered by a cover plate connected to the base plate. Driving members for driving the blades are supported on shafts connected to the base plate. The base plate has a shield portion extending along the outer periphery thereof for preventing unwanted light from entering from the sides of the base plate, and a frame portion surrounding the shutter opening for blocking unwanted light from reaching the shutter opening and for structurally reinforcing the base plate. The base plate, shafts, shield portion and frame portion are all integrally molded from plastic.

A camera equipped with an electronic shutter having an automatic focus detecting device capable of automatic focusing of the photographing lens through detection of the distance between the object being photographed and the camera comprises an electronic module for the automatic focus detection system, an electronic module for the automatic exposure control system, an electromagnet connected to both of the electronic modules, and an obstructing means capable of constraining the electromagnet at a first position during the course of displacement of the electromagnet from a first position to a second position. According to the camera release operation or the operation caused by the camera release operation, the electronic module for the automatic focus detection system controls the electromagnet so as to determine the focus position and the electronic module for the exposure control system controls the electromagnet so as to adjust the exposure after the electromagnet is constrained by the obstructing means at the first position.

A focal point adjusting and change-over mechanism for an automatic focusing camera, including a mechanism for restricting a position of the camera photographic lens in response to a distance sensing signal, and a change-over mechanism manually operable to at least two positions including an automatic position and a manual position. The restricting mechanism is operative to provide automatic focusing of the lens when the change-over mechanism is set at a position for automatic operation, and the change-over mechanism renders the distance sensing signal or the restricting mechanism inoperative when set at the position for manual operation, and thereby manual focusing is carried out in accordance with the manually set position of the change-over mechanism in the manual position.

A self-timer for the automatic focusing camera capable of automatically determining the focus position of the taking lens provides with a range limiting means prior to automatic range detection in at least a part of the photographing range. The range limiting means is operated interlocking with the setting of said self-timer to limit the adjustment of the taking lens within a limited range.

An automatic focusing camera automatically determines the focus position of the taking lens by detecting the distance between the camera and an object and equipped with a self-timer setting system and a focusing system selector system which selects between automatic focusing and manual focusing. A shutter locking member which normally locks the shutter interlocking with a setting operation of said self-timer setting system is released as said focusing system reflector system is set to manual focusing.

An automatic focusing camera comprises an automatic focus detecting electronic circuit for detecting the distance between the camera and an object, an electromagnet controlled by said circuit, a release member actuated interlocking with shutter release operation and adapted to actuate the shutter at the end of the operation, an armature lever controlled by said electromagnet to operate between a resting position and a taking lens focusing position interlocking with said release operation, a locking means which locks the shutter actuating operation of said release member with said armature lever at said resting position and allows the actuation of the shutter at the taking lens focusing position, and a selecting means for selecting between automatic focusing mode and manual focusing mode adapted to retract said locking means to a position where said locking means will not lock said release member when said manual focusing mode is selected.

A shielding member is provided between a reflex mirror and said blade groups and adapted to retract from an aperture shielding position during the exposure operation of said two blade groups and return to an aperture shielding position before and after the exposure operation.
