An acoustic diaphragm is disclosed having a plurality of acoustic elements supported by the diaphragm. In a preferred form, each element is coupled to a driver and extends radially at a uniform acute angle to a normal of the driver. In the preferred embodiment, a plural layer of the elements is arranged so that the direction of each element is out-of-phase relative to each other, preferably in the range of approximately ninety degree. An element is also supplemental to the conventional acoustic diaphragm. The improved acoustic diaphragm is used in electric acoustic and acoustic electric transducer systems having improved performance at wide frequency range.

A reproducing apparatus for a disk-shaped recording medium, wherein a pickup detects signals from a rotating disk-shaped recording medium in contact with the latter. The reproducing apparatus is so constructed that vertical and horizontal movements of the pickup can be selectively made by actuating only one control knob, and that the horizontal movement of the pickup is prevented when the latter is in contact with the disk-shaped recording medium, even if the control knob is erroneously or accidentally actuated.

The disclosure is concerned with a housing for a recording disc and a device for inserting the housing accommodating a recording disc on a recording/reproducing apparatus thereby avoiding direct contact of the operator's hand with the recording disc. The housing has a carrier or base plate for carrying the recording disc and a flexible cover fixed at one end to the carrier plate, the cover being adapted to cover the recording disc mounted on the carrier plate. The arrangement is such that the flexible cover is automatically taken off the carrier plate during insertion of the housing to bring the recording disc to its recording/reproducing position.

A pickup device for a video disk for extracting a signal from an information record medium having a high frequency signal recorded thereon in the form of an uneven groove, wherein a scanning body comprising a signal extracting element for producing an electrical signal from the information record medium in accordance with the information therein and a reproducing needle is supported by a plurality of arms each having a lower resonance frequency than the frequency band of the reproduced signals, whereby the reproducing needle is kept in close contact with the information record medium irrespective of the movement of the latter to allow high fidelity reproduction of a wide band high frequency signal.

Pickup device with a composite compliance arm

A signal reproducing system particularly adapted to be used with a high frequency signal such as a video signal. In this system, a record medium formed with a guide groove having an uneven pattern formed on an inner wall thereof with projections of the uneven pattern being located at intervals corresponding to time-axis changes in a time-axis modulated signal is scanned by a scanning member. The record medium is pressed by the scanning member along the guide groove, the scanning member being supported by an essentially elastic material. A change in the inclination angle of the scanning member with respect to the record medium occurs when a portion of the tip end of the scanning member engages with or disengages from the projections. The change in inclination angle is detected by a mechanical-electrical transducing element arranged in contact with the scanning member as an electrical signal to produce a reproduced signal.
