The server includes an EPG request receiver, an EPG request transmitter, an EPG receiver, an EPG converter, and a display EPG transmitter. The receiving apparatus includes an EPG obtainer, an EPG request acceptor, an EPG extractor, and an EPG transmitter.

A communication system includes a device and a server connected to the Internet, which transfers communications between the device and a terminal connectable to the Internet via the server. The device periodically transmits a notice packet to the server. The server transmits a connection request packet to the device in reply to the notice packet when a transfer to the device is requested from the terminal. The device transmits a TCP connection request to the server when receiving the connection request packet from the server. The server accepts the TCP connection request transmitted from the device to the server in reply to the connection request packet, to establish the TCP connection. Thus, the server transfers communications between the terminal and the device on the TCP connection after the TCP connection is established.

A data recording/reproducing apparatus of the invention records data in a plurality of tracks on a tape like recording medium by using a head unit mounted on a rotational cylinder and reproduces recorded data from the tracks, the tracks having at least two azimuth angles different from one another, and the tracks of the different azimuth angles being alternately located on the recording medium, the apparatus including: a formatter for providing, to each of the tracks, a normal data region to be used in normal reproduction and at least one search data region to be used in reproduction at a standard variable reproduction speed; for grouping the plurality of tracks into track sets each having a predetermined number of tracks, each search data region being located in the same position on a corresponding track included in the track set, and for placing identical search data in the search data region of each track included in the track set.

Data recording/reproducing apparatus and method for high speed play

A recording apparatus for recording digital signals to plural tracks formed sequentially on a tape using plural heads includes a first selector for selecting the first through n track sets, continuous tracks within the plural tracks formed on the tape. A disposer disposes the first through k separated high speed reproduction data areas to the same positions in each of the m tracks comprising the first through n track sets. A first recording unit records the same high speed reproduction data to the same track position in at least the tracks having the same azimuth within the m*k high speed reproduction data areas belonging to the same track set. A second selector selects the n+1 through n+N, each track set comprising M tracks selected from among the tracks to which the high speed reproduction data areas are not disposed. A second disposer disposes a continuous very-high speed reproduction data area to the same position in each of the M tracks forming the n+1 through n+N track sets. A second recorder record the same very-high speed reproduction data to the M very-high speed reproduction data areas belonging to the same track set within the M*N very-high speed reproduction data areas belonging to the n+1 to n+N track sets.

Recording and reproducing apparatus

A recording and reproducing apparatus for an input encoded data stream having two different bit rates N.sub.1 and N.sub.2, where N.sub.1 &lt;N.sub.2. The recording and reproducing apparatus includes: an input interface for outputting the input encoded data stream to two channels; recording processors, connected to the outputs of the input interface, for converting the input encoded data stream into a signal suitable for writing onto a magnetic tape by a recording head; a tape speed controller for varying the speed of the magnetic tape in accordance with the bit rates of the input encoded data stream; a reproducing head for reading the signal from the magnetic tape; reproducing processors for processing a reproduced signal; and an output interface. The output interface integrates and outputs the input signals from the two channels when the bit rate of the reproduced encoded data stream is N.sub.2, while the output interface outputs the input signal from only one of the two channels when the bit rate of the reproduced encoded data stream is N.sub.1.

A magnetic head driving apparatus makes it possible to effect a correct positioning operation at the assembly of the magnetic head, and also, to effect the correct measurement of the gap positions of the magnetic head. Also, the magnetic head is immune to the influence of the leakage flux of the magnetic circuit. Coil bobbins are mounted in a first gimbal spring and a second gimbal spring and the head has a projection in its lower end portion. The projection portion is extended through the hole of the first yoke. The head base is secured with a fixing member in the projection portion. A head base extending portion extending in a radial direction is formed in one portion of the external periphery of the head base with a magnetic head being mounted on its tip end. A sensor object showing the gap position of the magnetic head is formed in one portion of the head base extending portion.

A rotary head for use in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus includes a fixed cylinder, a rotary cylinder opposed to the fixed cylinder, two electrically controllable movable elements mounted on the rotary cylinder so as to be 180.degree. apart from each other, at least two magnetic heads secured to the movable elements, respectively, at least one reference surface provided on the rotary cylinder, and a vertical position detector element for detecting the vertical position of the movable elements and that of the reference surface. The rotary head further includes a control system for controlling the movable elements in response to an output from the vertical position detector element so that the magnetic heads may be located at a predetermined vertical position with respect to the vertical position of the reference surface.

A tracking apparatus for helical scan video tape recorders comprises four movable video heads situated on a scanning drum such that phase compensation information can be determined using the scanner rotational information, the tape speed, and tape position. The phase compensation information is used to adjust the video heads thereby reproducing high quality video signals with smooth movement pictures from varying speed helical scan video tape recorders.

Tracking apparatus for helical scan video tape recorders

A servo system for controlling the rotational speed of a rotating body or the moving speed of a moving body to be a desired speed. The system comprises a voltage source which generates at least two predetermined voltages, a comparator which compares a voltage of an AC signal containing a speed information of the moving body with each of the voltages generated by the voltage source and outputs at least two output signals in each half period of the AC signal, a counter for counting reference clock signals, a memory for storing a count value of the counter when the comparator outputs each of the output signals, a processor for producing a speed error signal from the count value stored in the memory, and a driver for supplying a driving power to the moving body in accordance with the speed error signal thereby to keep a desired speed of the moving body. Further, an error compensator may be provided for compensating a voltage shift of the predetermined voltages.
