A torsion spring that is used in a throttle valve device increasing and decreasing an opening degree of an intake passage or an exhaust passage of an internal-combustion engine includes: two coil springs connected with each other so that torsion directions are opposite from each other; and a hook disposed between the two coil springs. Of the two coil springs, one side spring arranged at one side in an axial direction biases a valve object to a closing side, and the other side spring arranged at the other side in the axial direction biases the valve object to an opening side. In at least one coil spring of the two coil springs, a dimension of a clearance between the at least one coil spring and the hook connected with each other is larger than an average value of clearances between coil turns of the at least one coil spring.

Torsion spring

A housing has an outer pipe. An inner pipe is accommodated in the outer pipe. The inner pipe defines an inner passage internally. The inner pipe defines an annular passage externally with the outer pipe. The inner pipe has through holes communicating the inner passage with the annular passage. The housing internally defines an EGR channel communicating with the annular passage. The EGR channel accommodates a deflector partitioning the EGR channel.

An axial groove is provided in an inner peripheral wall surface of a motor case of a housing of a motor actuator, and a spring installation opening is provided to the axial groove at a location adjacent to an opening end of a motor receiving hole of the motor case, which receives a motor. A damper spring is inserted into the groove through the spring installation opening. The damper spring urges the motor against first and second ridges formed in the inner peripheral wall surface of the motor case.

Motor actuator having electric motor received in housing

An EGR control device is provided in a branched-off pipe portion of a recirculation pipe unit. The EGR control valve is opened during an exhaust gas recirculation period, which is a part of a valve-opening period of an intake valve, so that exhaust gas is re-circulated into a combustion chamber during the exhaust gas recirculation period. As a result, swirl flow of the re-circulated exhaust gas to be formed in the combustion chamber is increased to improve ignitionability and to facilitate combustion of air-fuel mixture.

Exhaust gas recirculation apparatus

An exhaust gas guide member is provided to an airflow control valve varying an opening area of an intake passage. The exhaust gas guide member forms an exhaust gas passage which introduces the exhaust gas flowing from the exhaust gas introducing portion into the intake pipe toward an opposite end of the airflow control valve relative to the valve shaft. Thereby, the exhaust gas flows together with an intake air flow of high velocity generated by the airflow control valve so that a tumble flow can be generated in a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine.

Intake apparatus for internal combustion engine

A valve device includes a control valve for manipulating a communication between a first fluid channel and a second fluid channel. The valve device further includes a pressure sensor for detecting pressure in the first fluid channel. The pressure sensor is provided on a side face defining the first fluid channel. The pressure sensor has a pressure detection face directly opposed to the first fluid channel. The pressure detection face is substantially in parallel with a first axis of the first fluid channel.

Valve device and secondary air supply system having the same

A cross-sectional shape of a first intake passage is formed in a circular shape and a cross-sectional shape of a second intake passage is formed in a rectangular shape. Thus, an opening area of a second intake throttle portion can be made larger than an opening area of a first intake throttle portion even when the opening area of the first intake throttle portion is narrow and an intake air quantity supplied into a combustion chamber of an engine is small as in the case of engine start-up or engine idling operation. Accordingly, an intended strong tumble flow in accordance with a demand for improving a combustion efficiency in the combustion chamber can be generated in the combustion chamber while achieving the intake air quantity necessary during the engine start-up or the engine idling operation.

Intake device for internal combustion engine

A torque-transmitting device is advantageously applied to a secondary air control valve mounted on an automotive vehicle. The device includes a gear train for reducing a rotational speed of a motor and a mechanism for converting a rotational motion to a linear motion of a valve shaft. The gear train includes a final gear coupled to the valve shaft, and the final gear includes a flange positioned at an axial end of an axis of the final gear. A coil spring for biasing the final gear toward a predetermined position is disposed next to the flange and around the axis of the final gear. Slits or holes are formed through the flange, so that holding jigs for holding the coil spring are inserted, in an assembling process, into a cylindrical space between an inner circumference of the coil spring and the axis of the final gear.

Torque-transmitting device for use in air control valve

A motor-operated valve assembly has a housing, a motor, a driving force transmission means and a valve member. The housing has a fluid passage therein. The motor is installed in the housing. The driving force transmission means has an output rotor rotatably supported by the housing and transmits a driving force of the motor to the output rotor. The valve member is supported by the housing between the motor and the output rotor to be slidable in an axial direction thereof and engaged with the output rotor so that the output rotor slides the valve member to open and close the fluid passage.

Motor-operated valve assembly

A secondary air pressure detecting apparatus includes a solenoid valve and a pressure sensor. The solenoid valve defines a secondary air passage that introduces secondary air from the air pump into the exhaust system of an engine. The solenoid valve opens and closes the secondary air passage. The pressure sensor is integrally mounted to the solenoid valve to detect pressure of secondary air in the solenoid valve. The solenoid valve includes a coil assembly and magnetic members. The coil assembly includes a solenoid coil that generates magnetic force when the solenoid coil is energized. The magnetic members construct a magnetic circuit with the solenoid coil. The magnetic circuit is arranged outside of the secondary air passage. The pressure sensor is arranged on an opposite side of the secondary air passage with respect to the magnetic circuit.

Pressure detecting apparatus having solenoid valve and pressure sensor

The electromagnetic valve has an electromagnetic actuator for operating a valve. The electromagnetic actuator has a movable core that reciprocally moves in an axial direction. A stator core has an attracting portion. The attracting portion has a conical portion that is defined by a uniform diameter inner surface and an outwardly inclined outer surface. The outer surface has a smaller diameter at a position closer to an initial position of the plunger. Therefore outer diameter of the conical portion is increased in an attracting direction of the plunger. Moreover, increasing rate of the outer diameter is decreased in the attracting direction. Therefore the outer surface has a greater inclination angle at a position closer to an initial position of the plunger.
