Provided is a water based ink composition for a writing instrument comprising at least one of nonionic surfactants comprising polyhydric alcohol fatty acid esters, ethylene oxide adducts of polyhydric alcohol fatty acid esters, ethylene oxide adducts of higher alcohols and alkylphenols, ethylene oxide and propylene oxide adducts of higher alcohols, ethylene oxide adducts of castor oil or hardened castor oil, ethylene oxide adducts of hardened castor oil fatty acid esters and ethylene oxide adducts of higher alkylamines and fatty acid amides and further comprising a colorant, a perfume and water. It is less liable to cause feathering of the lines and has durability of fragrance, in which a perfume is dispersed and retained in an aqueous medium in a stable state.

Method for manufacturing ink follower for water base ballpoint pens

This invention relates to ink follower for a water-base ballpoint pen with its bubbles removed, time-dependent stability, less oil separation, and greatly reduced lot-to-lot viscosity difference and associated performance difference, and a method for manufacturing the same. After addition of thickener, the follower is made depressurized preferably at 0.2 atm or lower. Simultaneous heating and stirring are preferable. When the ink follower is solely debubbled in advance, fine bubbles contained in particulate silica, clay thickener, etc. can be very highly removed even if the centrifugal debubbling is not so strong and there is no bad affection to the writing property of the pen. It is also possible that, after adding the thickener, a centrifugal force greater than or equal to 200-fold of the gravitational acceleration is applied to debubble.

Ink follower for water-base ballpoint pens and method of manufacturing the same

Provided is a water based white color tone pigment ink for a ballpoint pen comprising titanium oxide, a complementary colorant comprising a pigment or a pseudo pigment obtained by dyeing resin particles with a dye, a resin emulsion, a thickener, water, a polar solvent and other additives, wherein the pigment has an average particle diameter of 100 nm or more; the pseudo pigment has an average particle diameter of 200 nm or more; the resin contained in the resin emulsion has an average particle diameter of 200 nm or more; and the ink has a viscosity of 500 mPa&middot;s to 5000 mPa&middot;s. Vivid drawn lines having a poster color tone can be obtained well even on writing paper having a dark hue. The ink is stable even in long term storage and excellent in a follow-up property and can write continuously.

Water-base white pigment ink for ballpoints

Lot-to-lot or time-dependent instability in quality of the known ink follower for water-base ballpoint pens is overcome. Particulate silica, or organic-treated clay is kneaded as thickener with base oil to prepare gel matter. The gel matter is pressurized to eliminate fine bubbles to yield ink follower for water-base ballpoint pens. The pressurization is preferably performed at 2 atm or higher. The elimination of the bubbles is more effective when the ink follower is, under pressurization, stirred and/or heated.
