A pedestrian protection device for a vehicle is provided at a vehicle-body front portion which comprises an engine room, a cowl box provided at an upper portion of a dash panel and extending in a vehicle width direction, and an engine hood pivotally supported at the vehicle body via a first hinge provided at a rear end portion so as to cover over the engine room. An engine-hood guide mechanism guides the engine hood upwardly and rearwardly so as to cover at least part of the cowl box when a collision of a pedestrian against a front bumper face is detected or predicted, and lowers the engine hood downwardly when a load acting on the engine hood exceeds a specified load.

Pedestrian protection device for vehicle

A front body structure of a vehicle comprises a pair of front side frames, a bumper reinforcement, a bumper face, a leg-part sweeping-away member which is provided below the bumper reinforcement and extends in a vehicle width direction, a front end of which is positioned in front of the bumper reinforcement, and a support member which supports the leg-part sweeping-away member at the front side frame. An automotive vehicle has a rear header disposed at a rear end of the roof and above a rear seat. An upper part of a steering column is supported by a first supporting member and a lower part of the steering column is connected releasably to a car body by a second supporting member. A cowl box of a vehicle in which a duct passagae through which an air duct of an air conditioner extends in a vertical direction is arranged to support a front windshield in such a fashion that the cowl box and the air duct are superposed as viewed in a transverse direction of a car body. Construction of cowl box of vehicle

Between the bottom end of the front glass window and the top end of the dash panel constituting the front wall of the vehicle chamber is formed the cowl frame member extending in a transverse direction of the vehicle body. An air passage consists a first air passage section and a second air passage section and communicates the first air opening for introducing the open air with the second air opening for introducing the open air introduced from the first air opening into the vehicle chamber. The first air passage section is formed in a space within the cowl frame member while the second air passage section is formed outside the cowl frame member. The one of the first and second air openings and the first air passage section are positioned at an end portion of the cowl frame member in a transverse direction of the vehicle body.
