A lubricating oil composition comprising a base oil and, incorporated therein, a phosphoric acid ester, phosphorous acid ester, phosphoric acid ester amine salt or phosphorous acid ester amine salt, an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid compound, and an alkylamine compound and/or primary zinc thiophosphate, succinimide or perbasic magnesium or calcium sulfonate. The change with the lapse of time of the friction coefficient of this lubricating oil composition is small and the friction coefficient is stable, and the change of the friction coefficient by the change of the oil temperature is small. By dint of such excellent characteristics, this lubricating oil composition is especially valuable as a lubricating oil for an automatic transmission of an automobile.

Lubricating oil composition

A gasoline additive composition comprising an ester; and at least one dispersant component chosen from the group consisting of a specified monosuccinimide, a specified bissuccinimide, an alkylamine of average molecular weight 500-5000 having a polyolefine polymer as an alkyl group and a specified benzylamine derivative of average molecular weight 500-5000. It can contain a polyoxyalkylene glycol or its derivative. It can further contain a lubricant oil fraction of viscosity in the range 3-35 mm.sup.2 /s (100.degree. C.) It prevents undesired deposits on the surfaces of intake valves of an automobile engine.

Described is an olefin hydroformylation process for producing aldehydes utilizing a Pt Group IV-A organometallic catalyst mixture such as (PPh.sub.3).sub.2 PtPh-SnPh.sub.2 Cl/SnCl.sub.2. High yields of aldehydes are produced in high selectivity for the normal isomer, especially when using propylene as the olefin.

Secondary alcohols are produced by the hydration of a n-olefin substantially free from an isoolefin in the presence as catalyst of an acidic cation exchange resin such as a sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer and in the presence of an oxy acid or lactone thereof such as .gamma.-valerolactone. The process is especially useful for hydrating a n-butene feed or a feed consisting essentially of n-butenes and butane to produce secondary butyl alcohol.

Novel rhodium compounds and process for producing the same

In an oxo process wherein an olefin is caused to react with carbon monoxide and hydrogen, a rhodium catalyst is provided by carrying out the hydroformylation in the presence of a rhodium source and free mixed ligands comprising a tertiary organo phosphorus and tertiary organo arsenic in excess of the quantity required for coordination to the rhodium atom. For example, HRh(CO)(PPh.sub.3).sub.3 with excess AsPh.sub.3 /PPh.sub.3 may be used to give a high reaction rate and good selectivity to n-aldehyde.
