Disclosed herein is a recording medium drive apparatus adapted to use a recording medium cartridge. The recording medium drive apparatus includes a holder for holding the recording medium cartridge inserted, an eject lever supported to one of a pair of side plate portions of the holder so as to be movable in an inserting direction and ejecting direction of the recording medium cartridge with respect to the holder, and a biasing spring for biasing the eject lever in the ejecting direction. The eject lever has a supported portion supported to the one side plate portion of the holder and an engaging projection projecting from the supported portion toward the other side plate portion of the holder. When the recording medium cartridge is inserted into the holder, the engaging projection is inserted into an engagement groove of the recording medium cartridge and engaged with an engaging portion formed in the engagement groove. When the eject lever is moved in the ejecting direction by a biasing force of the biasing spring in the condition where the engaging projection is engaged with the engaging portion of the recording medium cartridge, the recording medium cartridge is ejected from the holder.

A recording/reproducing apparatus includes a cartridge holder which is rotatably provided on a chassis, into which a disc cartridge enclosing a magneto-optical disc is inserted, and which holds the inserted disc cartridge, an optical pickup that irradiates laser light onto the magneto-optical disc, a magnetic head that is provided on the upper surface side of the cartridge holder facing the optical pickup and that is moved between a lowered position close to the optical disc and a raised position away from the magneto-optical disc, at least one first sliding member that is movably provided on the cartridge holder, a head raising/lowering mechanism that moves the magnetic head between the upper position and the lower position by moving the first sliding member, and a driving mechanism that is disposed on a lower surface side of the chassis, engages the sliding member, and moves the first sliding member.

Recorder/reproducer

A disc cartridge is provided. The disc cartridge includes an optical disc and a main cartridge body unit rotatably housing the optical disc. A lateral surface of the main cartridge body unit as an inserting end of the main cartridge body unit into the recording and/or reproducing apparatus is a semicircular arcuate section having the center of the optical disc accommodated in the main cartridge body unit as center. The direction of insertion of the main cartridge body unit into the recording and/or reproducing apparatus may be discriminated readily to achieve smooth loading.

Disk cartridge

A recording and/or reproducing apparatus includes a holder for holding an inserted recording medium, a recording and/or reproducing section for performing recording on or reproduction from the recording medium, a chassis in which the recording and/or reproducing section is provided, and a loading mechanism for moving the holder and the chassis closer to each other when the recording medium is inserted in the holder.

A recording/reproducing device using a magneto-optical disc as a recording medium having a holder for holding a magneto-optical disc and moving the magneto-optical disc between a disc unloading position and a disc loading position, a turntable for rotating the magneto-optical disc, an optical pickup for casting a light beam onto a signal recording surface of the magneto-optical disc, a magnetic head arranged to face the optical pickup on the opposite side of the magneto-optical disc and moving toward and away from the magneto-optical disc, and a rotating ejection lever positioned on a base for ejecting the magneto-optical disc held by the holder. Since the ejection lever is arranged on the side of the base where the optical pickup is arranged, the space within the device body is effectively used, thus realizing miniaturization.

A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for magneto-optical disc includes a head supporting mechanism and a movement mechanism. The head supporting mechanism includes a supporting member disposed above a holder in such a manner to oppose an optical pick-up and provided at one end side with a magnetic head to move the supporting member between recording position at which the magnetic head supplies external magnetic field to the magneto-optical disc held by the holder and non-recording position above the recording position and at which the magnetic head is spaced with respect to the magneto-optical disc. The movement mechanism includes a movement member movably disposed on the side surface of the body unit so that it is moved between first position at which the head supporting mechanism is driven at the time of recording with respect to the magneto-optical disc to move the magnetic head to the recording position and second position at which the head supporting mechanism is driven at the time of reproduction of the magneto-optical disc to move the magnetic head to the non-recording position.

Magneto-optical disk recording and/or reproducing device

A recording and/or reproducing apparatus includes a base member at least having a rotation driving mechanism for rotationally driving a disc housed in a disc cartridge, a holder into which is inserted the disc cartridge and an ejection lever formed by an elastically flexible lever. The holder is mounted for movement between a first position in which the disc inserted in the disc cartridge is loaded on the rotation driving mechanism and a second position in which the disc housed in the disc cartridge is spaced apart from the rotation driving mechanism. The second position is higher in level than the first position. The ejection lever is elastically flexed by the disc cartridge inserted into the holder from a position protruded into the holder to the position extending along the back side of the holder. When elastically flexed to the position extending along the back surface of the holder, the ejection lever is engaged with the holder moved to the first position. When the holder is moved from the first position to the second position, the ejection lever is disengaged from the holder and is elastically restored in the direction of being intruded into the holder to eject the disc cartridge from the holder.

Recording and/or reproducing apparatus employing disc cartridge

A recording and/or playback apparatus using a disc cartridge that accommodates a recording medium such as an optical disc includes a holder, a recording and/or playback section, and a moving mechanism. The holder holds a recording medium that is inserted in the apparatus. When mounted with the recording medium that is held by the holder, the recording and/or playback section performs recording or playback on the recording medium. The moving mechanism moves the holder between a mounting position where to mount the recording medium on the recording and/or playback section and an dismounting position where to separate the recording medium from the recording and/or playback section. The moving mechanism has an urging member for urging the holder toward the recording and/or playback section when the recording medium is mounted onto the recording and/or playback section, and for urging the holder in such a direction that the holder goes away from the recording and/or playback section when the recording medium is separated from the recording and/or playback section.

A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a recording medium such as a magneto-optical disk or the like includes an apparatus body and a lid body. An apparatus body has an opening portion used for insertion and/or ejection of a recording medium. The apparatus body having a recording and/or reproducing unit for recording or reproducing a recording medium inserted through the opening portion. The lid body opens and closes the opening portion. The lid body is rotatably provided on the apparatus body. The lid body has on its side surface an inclined portion used for rotating the lid body in a direction in which the recording medium opens the opening portion when the storage medium is inserted into the apparatus body.

Electronic equipment

A recording apparatus of a recording medium is comprised of a lid, a lock mechanism, an operating mechanism and a transmitting mechanism. The lid is rotatably arranged at the main body of the apparatus so as to open or close an installing part for the recording medium. The lock mechanism locks the lid at a closed position against the main body of the apparatus. The operating mechanism is arranged at the main body of the apparatus. The transmitting mechanism is arranged between the operating mechanism and the lock mechanism. The transmitting mechanism has a resilient displacement member for use in transmitting an operation of the operating mechanism to the lock mechanism. The resilient displacement member is moved between a transmitting position where an operation of the operating mechanism is transmitted to the lock mechanism to release the locked state of the lid with the lock mechanism and a non-transmitting position where it is retracted from the operating mechanism and the lock mechanism.

The present invention relates to a rotary disk loading mechanism. A disk loading mechanism according to the present invention includes a recording medium holder which is rotatably supported by a chassis and into which a storage medium such as a mini disk (trademark) or the like is inserted, an eject lever as a rotation operation member disposed on one side of the recording medium holder and movably supported by the chassis, an operation converting means formed of a cam and so on for converting movement of the eject lever into rotation of the recording medium holder, a holder locking member rotatably provided on the chassis and biased by a first springy member, and an engagement portion provided on the eject lever and biased by a second springy member in a predetermined direction to thereby be engaged with the holder locking member. When the holder locking member is brought in contact with the storage medium to be inserted into the recording medium holder and thereby rotated against a spring force of the first springy member, a relief surface provided on one of the holder locking member and the engagement portion is brought in contact with the other thereof and release of engagement of the holder locking member and the engagement portion is started early as compared with release of the engagement prevented when no relief surface is provided. Thus, it is possible to provide a loading mechanism which improves operability upon insertion of the storage medium.
