A display is formed such that a control portion reads second channel data corresponding to channels not displayed at start-up from a second storage portion after reading first channel data corresponding to a prescribed channel displayed on a display portion at the start-up from a first storage portion, at the start-up.

Display

This television set includes a first speaker portion and a second speaker portion provided on prescribed left and right positions of a display screen portion respectively, a driving portion turning the display screen portion and a control portion controlling the first speaker portion and the second speaker portion so that the first speaker portion and the second speaker portion output different sounds enabling the user to identify the distances from the first and second speaker portions to the user respectively when the driving portion turns the display screen portion.

Television set

A printer capable of reducing a time for increasing the temperature of a heating element to a proper level for starting printing beforehand and suppressing density reduction in an initial stage of printing is obtained. This printer comprises a print head having a heating element for printing an image on a paper, a platen roller against which the print head is pressed through an ink sheet and the paper and print head control means applying a prescribed voltage to the heating element of the print head while carrying the paper after pressing the print head against the platen roller and before starting printing.

Printer

A printer allowing changes of a paper size and an ink sheet in an intermediate stage of printing is obtained. This printer comprises a paper tray provided in correspondence to each of a plurality of paper sizes, a paper tray detecting portion for detecting the size of the paper corresponding to the paper tray, an ink sheet cartridge provided in correspondence to each of a plurality of types of ink sheets corresponding to the plurality of paper sizes respectively, a cartridge detecting portion for detecting the type of the ink sheet corresponding to the ink sheet cartridge and a control portion finally deciding a combination of a paper and the ink sheet subjected to printing after searching for the paper and the ink sheet.

A thermal printer includes a control part; a thermal head that is heated upon a heating instruction from the control part and stops heating upon a heating-ending instruction from the control part; a temperature detector that detects a temperature of the thermal head upon a temperature detection instruction from the control part; and a feed motor that is driven upon a conveyance instruction from the control part and stops the conveyance upon a conveyance-ending instruction from the control part. The control part issues, prior to printing, the heating instruction and the conveyance instruction such that the heating of the thermal head and the conveyance of the paper are performed in parallel. The control part issues the temperature detection instruction as an interrupt every predetermined period of time after the heating instruction is issued, and issues the heating-ending instruction when the temperature of the thermal head reaches a predetermined preheat-ending temperature.

Thermal printer

A thermal printer performs printing on a paper based on printing density data input. The thermal printer includes a thermal head having at least one heating element; a temperature detector which detects a temperature of the thermal head; and a control part which is connected to the thermal head and the temperature detector, receives the printing density data, and controls an amount of energy to be supplied to the heating element based on the printing density data. The control part stores therein a printing density-energy supply amount table which sets forth an amount of energy to be supplied to the heating element to perform printing with certain printing densities at certain head temperatures. The printing density-energy supply amount table sets forth that the amount of energy to be supplied is greater than zero at the printing density of zero if the head temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature.

A thermal printer comprises: a ROMfor storing a heat history correction table; a RAMfor storing the density-related energizing time data for the first and second preceding lines printed immediately before the current line to be printed and the density-related energizing time data before a correction for the current line to be printed which includes a target dot T; and a control section for comparing the density-related energizing time data for the first and second preceding lines and the density-related energizing time data before a correction for both adjacent dots Tand Tof the target dot T with the density-related energizing time data before a correction for the target dot T to select reference data, and further for performing a corrective operation for the pre-correction energizing time data for the target dot T using thus selected reference data to calculate energizing time data for the target dot T to be printed, whereby it is possible to prevent the temperature of a thermal head from being reduced excessively.
