An adsorbent for radioactive nuclides incorporating fibrous activated carbon. The adsorbent includes fibrous activated carbon having good adsorption performance, inorganic fiber and inorganic binder. Therefore, the adsorbent exhibits good shape stability when it is formed into a molded piece, has good combustion performance, and is not liable to scattering of radioactive nuclides adsorbed thereon when it is incinerated.

Adsorbent for adsorption of radioactive nuclides and method of producing

An adsorbent useful for the adsorption of radioactive nuclides which comprises fibrous active carbon having a specific surface area of 1,000 m.sup.2 /g or more and an equilibrium moisture regain of 10% or more at a relative humidity of 45%; and a process for the volume-reduction treatment of radioactive liquid waste which comprises subjecting radioactive liquid waste containing radioactive nuclides to an adsorption treatment using an adsorbent comprising fibrous active carbon having a specific surface area of 1,000 m.sup.2 /g or more, and subsequently subjecting the spent adsorbent to an incineration treatment at a temperature which is equal to or higher than the ignition point of the fibrous active carbon.

Adsorbent of radioactive nuclides and process for volume-reduction

A lubricant to be sprayed onto the surface of a steel material for forming a lubricant coat on the surface of the steel material to be forged. The lubricant comprises a particulate lubricant composed of thermally melting resin mixed with inorganic lubricant. The particulate lubricant is applied onto the surface of a steel material to be forged. Before or after applying the particulate lubricant onto the surface of the steel material, the surface of the steel material is heated. Consequently, the thermally melting resin melts and coheres with the inorganic lubricant over the surface of the steel material, resulting in the formation of a uniformly thick lubricant coat over the steel material. The lubricant coat prevents the steel material from being burnt in a forging device even during hot forging. The lubricant coat is fit for the forging of hard to work steel material. The lubricant coat also contributes to the decrease in forging cost, without deteriorating the forging environment.
