A wasp controlling liquid formulation, which comprises a pesticidal compound as an active ingredient and at least 30% by weight of a saturated hydrocarbon that has a boiling point from 90&deg; C. to 200&deg; C., provides superior potency and an ability to knock down or kill wasps before the wasp has a chance to formidably sting someone.

Pest repellents are provide that contain a pest repellent composition comprising carane-3,4-diol as an active ingredient, a non-porous round polyethylene powder, and a solvent. Preferably, the provided pest repellent compositions comprise (i) about 3-50% by weight of carane-3,4-diol, (ii) about 3-30% by weight of a paraffin, (iii) about 20-90% by weight of an alcohol and (iv) a non-porous round polyethylene powder, wherein the amount of the non-porous round polyethylene powder present in the pest repellent composition is about 0.05 to 1.0 times the weight of carane-3,4-diol present in the composition. Aerosol pest repellents are also provided.

Pest repellent composition

A pest control device is provided with (1) a volatile substance holder, which includes a pest control component volatilization surface and a liquid volatilization surface, and (2) an indicator, which is composed of a wick and a bottle. The pest control component volatilization surface holds a pest control component volatile at ordinary temperature so that the pest control component can be volatilized into the air, while the liquid volatilization surface is able to hold a liquid volatile so that the liquid can be volatilized into the air. The wick is for supplying the liquid to the liquid volatilization surface of the volatile substance holder, while the bottle contains the liquid to be supplied to the liquid volatilization surface via the wick. In this manner, the indicator indicates how much the pest control component, which is volatilized from the pest control component volatilization surface is left, by showing how much the liquid is left in the bottle.

A pre-mix insecticidal composition is disclosed that contains (a) 0.1-10% by weight of 2,4-dioxo-1-(2-propynyl)imidazolidin-3-ylmethyl chrysanthemate, (b) 2.5-50% by weight of a fatty acid ester of 16-19 carbon atoms; (c) 2.5-30% by weight of a sorbitan fatty acid ester; (d) 0.5-1% by weight of at least one alcohol selected from the group consisting of ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, propylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, butylene glycol and glycerin; and (e) 40-93.5% by weight of a saturated hydrocarbon of 8-18 carbon atoms. A useful insecticidal aerosol composition contains 5-30% by weight of this pre-mix insecticidal composition, 40-85% by weight of water and 10-50% by weight of a propellant. The aerosol composition is stable, i.e. the separation into aqueous phase and organic phase occurs at a very low rate after shaking. A method for controlling harmful insects is also disclosed.

A mono-layer liquid phase type water-based insecticidal aerosol comprises a base liquid for aerosol containing at least one specific pyrethroidal compound, a specific organic solvent and a specific buffer solution, which base liquid has a pH of from 7.0 to 11.0, and dimethyl ether as a propellant. The aerosol according to the present invention has a long-term storage stability as well as an excellent insecticidal activity and causes no degradation of the container.

A mono-layer liquid phase type water-based insecticidal aerosol comprises (A) a base liquid for aerosol containing at least one specific pyrethroidal compound, a specific organic solvent and a buffer solution, which base liquid has a pH of from 7.0 to 9.0 and (B) dimethyl ether as a propellant. The aerosol according to the present invention has a long-term storage stability, as well as an excellent insecticidal activity and causes no degradiation of the container.

The insecticidal transparent emulsion of the present invention is obtained by mixing (A) at least one pyrethroidal insecticide as defined in the claims as an active ingredient; (B) a polar solvent containing mixed surface active agent containing at least one metal alkylbenzenesulfonate, at least one nonionic surface active agent having an HLB (hydro- and lipophilicity balance) of 10 to 18 and at least one polar solvent; and (C) water, so that the content of (B) in the mixture is equal to or more than that of (A) and 6% by weight or less and then diluting the resulting mixture.
