Mechanical seal

A mechanical seal capable of preventing charge accumulation on a rotary shaft includes a fixed sealing element which is held at an inner periphery of housing members of machines to be installed and has at least a fixed seal ring, and a rotating sealing element which is held at an outer periphery of a rotary shaft rotatably supported in the housing members and has at least a rotating seal ring. A conductive element is provided between the fixed sealing elementand the rotary shaft or a rotary shaft member fixed to the rotary shaft.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a mechanical seal in which a stationary-side sealing ring can follow the movement of a rotating-side sealing ring to provide reliable sealing properties and by which the entire device can be made compact. A mechanical seal in which a rotating-side sealing ringattached to a shaftand a stationary-side sealing ringattached to a housingslide relative to each other and seal between the housingand the shaftincludes a casewhich is attached to the housingand which contains the stationary-side sealing ring, and a seal memberwhich is disposed between the caseand the stationary-side sealing ring, and the caseincludes a holding partwhich regulates the seal memberfrom moving to both sides in the axial direction thereof.

In an exemplary embodiment, a sliding component includes an annular stationary side seal ringfixed to the stationary side and an annular rotating side seal ringto be rotated together with a rotating shaft, in which by relatively rotating opposing sealing faces S of the stationary side seal ringand the rotating side seal ring, a silicate-containing sealed fluid present on one side in the radial direction of the relatively rotating sealing faces S is sealed, wherein an amorphous carbon filmformed by using a hydrocarbon gas containing no silicon compound is provided on at least any one of the sealing faces S of the stationary side seal ringand the rotating side seal ring, and content of silicon of the amorphous carbon filmis 1.5 at % or less.

Sliding component

An electron beam welding method capable of restoring toughness even when high heat input welding is performed. The electron beam welding method comprises: forming a first weld bead () so as to include a groove () provided at the butt portions of two base materials (), and forming a second weld bead () and a third weld bead () having a narrower width than the first weld bead (), at predetermined positions displaced from the groove () and centered symmetrically about the butt portions so as to include a portion of the first weld bead (), using a lower heat input than that used during formation of the first weld bead ().

Electron beam welding method

A display system is realized by setting virtual units on a screen display section constructed with nine display units and repeatedly splitting the screen into four portions, allocating virtual addresses each expressed with a binary value for each split level to each split unit of the screen (area). Thus, by setting the virtual units, the screen can be split into two portions (into four portions on the whole) even if there are physically only three display units along one side of the screen. For this reason, even when the screen is repeatedly split into four portions and each address is set to each of the split units to display an image, the image is not trimmed of any part thereof.
