A deep-draw-formed vessel which is prepared by deep-draw-forming a laminate comprising a steel or iron foil and a plastic film formed on each surface of the steel or iron foil through a layer of an adhesive having an adhesive force of at least 600 g/15 mm of width and an elastic modulus of 50 to 10,000. A Kg/cm.sup.2 inorganic filler such as titanium dioxide is preferably incorporated in the plastic film so as to improve the deep-drawability.

Disclosed is an easily-openable heat-seal lid for forming a heat-sealed portion with a vessel proper for sealing the vessel proper, which is composed of a laminate comprising at least an inner surface member of a heat-sealable resin, a metal foil and an outer protecting layer, wherein a score defining a portion to be opened is formed at a part of the lid more central than the peripheral portion to be heat-sealed so that the score extends to the midway of the metal foil in the thickness direction from the outer side, a through hole piercing through the lid is formed on the inner side of the score in the vicinity of the opening-initiating portion of the score, a rivet of an opening tab, which is composed of the inner surface member material and a heat-sealable resin, is inserted through the hole to project to the inner surface side of the lid, the top end portion of said projecting of the rivet is expanded in the plane direction to secure the opening tab, the top end portion of the rivet projected on the inner surface side is sealed and engaged with the inner surface member by heat fusion bonding, and one end portion of the opening tab or the peripheral portion of the inner surface side of the rivet is substantially superimposed on the opening-initiating portion of the score.

Easily-openable heat-seal lid

Disclosed is a coated welded can having a metal-exposed face inclusive of a seam covered with a coating, wherein the coating comprises at least one organic resin coating layer and at least one metal film, and at least the portion of the organic resin coating that adheres to the metal-exposed face is comprised of a copolymer of ethylene with a carbonyl group-containing, ethylenically unsaturated monomer or a blend containing this copolymer. In this coated welded can, the adhesion of the coating, the corrosion resistance of the seam and the appearance characteristics of the seam are highly improved. Furthermore, the coating of this welded can is not damaged by such processing as flanging, beading or double-seaming or when the welded can is subjected to the retort sterilization.

Disclosed is an easily openable heat seal lid for sealing a vessel proper by forming a heat-sealed portion between the lid and the vessel proper, which comprises a laminate comprising at least an inner face member composed of a thermoplastic resin and a metal foil, wherein scores defining a portion to be opened are formed on the side inner than the portion to be heat-sealed so that the scores extend to the midway of the thickness direction of the metal foil, an opening tab is formed on the portion of the lid to be opened through a bonding fulcrum portion composed of a thermoplastic resin hot adhesive so that the push-tearing top end of the opening tab is located on the scores, and the peel strength between the opening tab and the lid in said bonding portion is at least 0.4 Kg/5 mm.

Easily-openable heat seal lid

Disclosed is an easily openable heat seal lid for sealing a vessel proper by forming a heat-sealed portion between the lid and the vessel proper, which comprises a laminate comprising at least an inner face member composed of a thermoplastic resin and a metal foil, wherein scores defining a portion to be opened are formed on the side inner than the portion to be heat-sealed so that the scores extend to the midway of the thickness direction of the metal foil, and said inner face member comprises at least one heat-sealable thermoplastic resin layer having an adhesion strength of at least 800 g/15 mm to the metal foil, a tear strength lower than 3.0 kg and a tensile modulus of at least 300 kg/cm.sup.2. In this heat seal lid, the resin layer can be broken sharply along the scores and opening can be accomplished very easily.

Disclosed is a process for the preparation of cans which comprises pressing a flexible lid comprising an aluminum foil as a substrate and a heat-sealable resin layer formed on the surface thereof to a metallic can body being formed of a surface-treated ferromagnetic steel plate and having a curl on the edge of an opening in such a positional relation that the curl portion of the can body confronts the resin layer of the lid, and induction-heating the curl portion selectively by a high-frequency induction-heating coil located in the vicinity of the periphery of the curl portion to form a seal between the curl portion and the lid by heat-sealing. According to this process, the curl portion to be heat-sealed is selectively heated, and heat-sealing can be accomplished in a short time while preventing deterioration of a lacquer or sealant. A copolymer of ethylene with a carbonyl group-containing ethylenic monomer, especially an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, which has the surface subjected to the corona discharge treatment, is used as the sealant. A canned provision is prepared by heat-sealing a sealing lid to the curl portion of a can body in the above-mentioned manner, packing a content into the lidded can body and double-seaming another lid to the flange portion of the can body.

Disclosed is a retort-sterilizable laminated structure comprising an aluminum foil or sheet, a heat-sealable crystalline propylene type resin layer formed on one surface of the aluminum foil or sheet and a heat-resistant resin layer formed on the other surface of the aluminum foil or sheet, wherein the aluminum foil or sheet is heat-fusion-bonded to said crystalline propylene type resin layer through a layer of a modified olefin resin having a degree of crystallization of 15 to 95% and a carbonyl group concentration of 1 to 600 meq/100 g of the polymer, in which the majority of the structural olefin units are propylene units and the minority of the structural olefin units are ethylene units. As the modified olefin polymer, a modified ethylene-propylene copolymer or a blend of a modified propylene type polymer with an ethylene type polymer is preferably employed.

Retort-sterilizable laminated structure and process for preparation

A copolymer comprising 10 to 50 mole % of olefin units and 90 to 50 mole % of vinyl units, 50 to 98 mole % of the vinyl units being vinyl alcohol units and 2 to 50 mole % of the vinyl units being vinyl acetal units, is disclosed. This copolymer has excellent resistance to hot water and excellent oxygen barrier property in combination. When this copolymer is subjected to retortsterilization, blanching is not caused and the excellent oxygen barrier property can be maintained. When this copolymer is laminated on a polyolefin or the like a laminate structure excellent in the interlaminar peel strength is provided.

Olefin-vinyl alcohol-vinyl acetal copolymers, process for preparation

A copolymer comprising 10 to 50 mole % of olefin units and 90 to 50 mole % of vinyl units, 50 to 98 mole % of the vinyl units being vinyl alcohol units and 2 to 50 mole % of the vinyl units being vinyl acetal units, is disclosed. This copolymer has excellent resistance to hot water and excellent oxygen barrier property in combination. When this copolymer is subjected to retort-sterilization, blanching is not caused and the excellent oxygen barrier property can be maintained. When this copolymer is laminated on a polyolefin or the like, a laminate structure excellent in the interlaminar peel strength is provided.
