An image forming system includes a first storage unit that stores identification information and storage information with the identification information mapped to the storage information, the identification information identifying a user, the storage information indicating a storage location where image data corresponding to the identification information is stored, an identifying unit that, in response to the identification information input by the user, identifies the storage location indicated by the storage information stored on the first storage unit with the identification information mapped thereto, a retrieval unit that retrieves, from the storage location identified by the identifying unit, the image data corresponding to the identification information, and an image forming unit that forms an image responsive to the image data retrieved by the retrieval unit.

A facsimile system comprises: an image memory for storing received image data and image data to be transmitted; means for detecting a remaining memory capacity in the image memory; means for storing document data of each of the received image data and the image data to be transmitted; means for enciphering at least a part of image data stored in the image memory upon detection of an insufficient remaining memory capacity by the remaining memory capacity detection means; means for recording the enciphered image data on a recording sheet together with the document data thereof; means for reading the recorded enciphered image data; and means for deciphering the read enciphered image data.

A filing system scans original documents and converts the information on the documents into picture information which is then condensed and stored in a file storage block. If an index for the files is specified, an index of the picture information is stored in a file image memory having a plurality of fixed memory areas. Coordinates of an area of the original document enclosing the picture information on the original document can be specified, and tables in memory indicate the correspondence between specified areas, the corresponding fixed memory areas in the file image memory, and the addresses of the corresponding stored files. To retrieve the files, an operator can either press certain areas on a document with a stylus pen, provide an identifier of the files, or place marks on an index document prepared by the filing system.

Information processing system

An apparatus for producing and utilizing sheets of manuals containing data corresponding to operating procedures for electronic devices. Data related to an electronic device is input into the production portion and stored in the apparatus. Relevant area data and character code strings are converted to frame and image data, which is combined and printed onto a manual sheet. The printed data, which corresponds to the desired operating procedure, can then be read into the utilization portion of the device. The data is matched with corresponding function data, which is read out to operate the electronic device in accordance with the operating procedures.
