An operator of a nuclear plant is provided with an action margin time up to the execution of a next action to be performed in response to a detected accident based on sensor signals received from sensors for the plant. The operator is provided with a displayed graph showing the received sensor signals, estimated sensor signals for the future, the action margin time and an action threshold value corresponding to the next action. Accordingly, the operator can readily grasp how much time is available to perform the next action before the received sensor signals are predicted to exceed the action threshold value.

Operation assistance apparatus at time of accident in plant

An inclination detection apparatus detects the inclination of a mobile body with three marker rods having different inclinations with respect to one another. The mobile body is provided with a laser range finder irradiating surrounding objects with a laser beam to light a point on each of the three marker rods as a reflection point from which the laser beam is reflected back. The inclination detection apparatus includes a processor and a storage device storing relative positional information of the three marker rods. The processor obtains positional information of reflection points, obtains relative positions of the reflection points on the three marker rods by determining points on the three marker rods corresponding to the obtained positional information based on the relative positional information of the three marker rods, and identifies an inclination plane including the obtained relative positions of the reflection points as the inclination of the mobile body.

An information display terminal allows a user to grasp rapidly and surely the direction to a destination, and can guide the user to the destination without placing a burden on the user. The information display terminal is provided at a passage, and its display screen displays a route guidance screen that guides a route to the destination. The route guidance screen displays a pseudo-action image that shows the walking motion, and a destination display information image indicating a destination name such as 'Subway Ticket Gate'. The action image shows the motion of walking toward the destination, but the display position does not change. The destination display information image is displayed in front of the action image in the advancing direction.

The prior art in this field had a display portion of electronic paper at a part of a shelf and showed a problem that the display portion and the goods were hardly co-related to each other in response to the arrangement of the goods. In view of the foregoing, plural images arranged in response to the number of stages of the shelves to be displayed are irradiated with a light source after each of the images is corrected in correspondence with the optical path length ranging from the light source to the end of each of the shelves, each of the images is guided to the end of each of the shelves by plural reflector members and then the images are displayed at the ends. An optical switch for switching communication light beams propagating through a plurality of optical fibers. The switch includes a plurality of input-side lenses, a plurality of moving mirrors, a plurality of output-side lenses, light emitting units, and light receiving units arranged for optical communication. The plurality of input-side lenses include first input-side lenses to which communication light beams coming from first external units and propagating through input-side optical fibers connect optically and second input-side lenses to which the light beams from the light emitting units connect optically. The plurality of output-side lenses include first output-side lenses for causing light beams passing therethrough to optically connect to second output-side optical fibers adapted to propagate the communication light beams to second external units and second output-side lenses for causing the light beams coming from the light emitting units and passing therethrough to optically connect to the light receiving units.

Optical switch and a control method thereof

An optical module for an optical device and an optical fiber is constituted by a pre-molded plastic package. In forming the plastic package, the main flowing direction of the molding resin is substantially parallel with the optical axis of the optical fiber. The optical module is formed by molding the resin by injection using pressure and then solidifying the resin. When the plastic package is formed by comprehensive molding, the flowing direction of the resin is parallel with the optical axis direction of the optical fiber to be installed in the optical module. As a result, for comprehensive molding, the molding pressure applied to the optical fiber is reduced. By using the resin case that is formed, the resulting package exhibits high rigidity and low thermal expansion properties in connection with the flowing direction of the resin, thus reducing the external stress and thermal stress applied to the optical fiber.

In a three-dimensional multi-channel optical switch using biaxially movable mirrors, a mirror packing density is improved to support an increased number of channels. The three-dimensional optical switch comprises a fiber collimator array, and a first mirror array and a second mirror array disposed in close proximity to a beam emission surface of the fiber collimator array. The first mirror array has arranged thereon a plurality of first mirrors each having a single rotation axis and a plurality of first windows. The second mirror array has arranged thereon a plurality of second mirrors each having a single rotation axis orthogonal to the first rotation axis and a plurality of second windows. A beam emitted from a fiber collimator passes through the first window, reflects on a fixed mirror and a movable mirror in order, passes through the second window, and exits to the outside.

Optical switch system and method for aligning optical axis therein

An optical module for an optical device and an optical fiber is constituted by a pre-molded plastic package. In forming the plastic package, the main flowing direction of the molding resin is substantially parallel with the optical axis of the optical fiber. The optical module is formed by molding the resin by an injection method using pressure and then solidifying the resin. When the plastic package is formed by comprehensive molding, the flowing direction of the resin is parallel with the optical axis direction of the optical fiber to be installed in the optical module. As a result, for comprehensive molding, the molding pressure applied to the optical fiber is reduced. Semiconductor laser coupling device and method for assembling the same on circuit board

An apparatus for transporting an electronic component includes a head for holding the component when the component is picked up from a suitable storage device. The head is movable relative to a base with an imaging apparatus being fixed to the head and allowing position of the component relative to the head to be determined while the component is being transported. A movable optical component is provided on the head which, in one position, contributes to defining an optical path between the component and the imaging apparatus, and in another position, is withdrawn. A further imaging apparatus may be provided, on the base or on the head with the further imaging apparatus detecting the position of large components, if the first imaging apparatus has a narrow filed of view for small components. Alternatively, when the further imaging apparatus is on the head, the imaging apparatus may detect the position to which the component is to be transported.
