A fluidized bed separator () includes a feed section () between an upper separation chamber () and a main separation chamber (). The feed section () has one or more feed pipes () extending horizontally and transversely with respect to a body wall () of the fluidized bed separator (). The one or more feed pipes () are positioned completely and entirely underneath the inclined plates (). An external oversize protection apparatus () which is separate from and external to the body wall () may be operatively coupled to the one or more feed pipes (). One or more lamella cartridges () may be provided within channels () of the upper separation chamber (), and one or more breakaway plates () may be inserted within channels () to prevent sanding and facilitate insertion and extraction of the lamella cartridges ().

Separator apparatus and feed arrangement for increased capacity

A classifier cleaning and optimization device is provided. The device includes a chamber that is adapted to contain a fluidized bed, an array of two or more adjacently arranged inclined plates positioned above the fluidized bed wherein an inclined channel is formed between each pair of adjacent inclined plates, and a means for introducing a process liquid into the chamber between the fluidized bed and the array of inclined plates such that in use, the process fluid travels through at least one of the inclined channels. A method of cleaning the separation section of a classifier is also disclosed herein.

Classifier cleaning device

A classifier and a method of separating material using such a classifier are disclosed. The classifier comprises a mixing chamber having a mixing fluidization floor and a concentration chamber having a concentration fluidization floor. The concentration fluidization floor and at least a portion of the concentration chamber is located below the mixing fluidization floor. The method of separating material using such a classifier comprises delivering material to be separated into a mixing chamber of the classifier, fluidizing the material in the mixing chamber; transferring some of the material to a concentration chamber of the classifier in fluid communication with the mixing chamber, fluidizing the material in the concentration chamber, forming a concentrating fluidized bed in the concentration chamber, separating the material with at least the concentrating fluidized bed and drawing heavier portions of the separated material from the concentration chamber.

Classifier

Disclosed herein are embodiments of a classifier () for classification of particles according to their size and/or weight. Classifiers () disclosed herein may include a mixing chamber (), and a separation chamber (), where the separation chamber may be separable into parts. Classifiers () disclosed herein may include a fluidizing chamber (). The separation chamber () may include a de-aeration chamber () and a launder ().

The invention resides in a de-aeration device including at least one de-aeration chamber for locating a slurry; at least one slurry inlet connected to the de-aeration chamber to allow the slurry to pass into the de-aeration chamber; at least one slurry outlet to allow slurry to pass out of the de-aeration chamber; and at least one de-aeration face for collecting and transporting air from the slurry.
