Highly elastomeric, curable, paintable silicone compositions are provided. The paintable silicone compositions comprise an organopolysiloxane, a silicone functional crosslinker, and an organic polymer. The highly elastomeric, curable, paintable silicone compositions have an elongation of at least 150% and are useful as paintable sealants and caulks.

Highly elastomeric and paintable silicone compositions

Polymer compositions for preparing sealants, adhesives and coatings are provided. The polymer compositions comprise from 1 to 99% by weight of an organic polymer comprising functional silane groups, from 1 to 45% by weight (based on total polymer) of at least one reactive or non-reactive organopolysiloxane polymer; from 0 to 98% by weight (based on total polymer) of an organic polymer that lacks functional silane groups.

Polymer compositions and adhesives, coatings, and sealants made therefrom

Prepolymer compositions for preparing a one-part, moisture-curable sealant, adhesive or coating, and a method of making such prepolymer compositions are provided. The prepolymer compositions comprise a polyurethane prepolymer that is end-capped with silane groups or a combination of silane groups and end capping groups that have been derived from an alcohol and an amount, referred to hereinafter as an 'excess', of unreacted aromatic alcohol having a molecular weight of less than 2000. The excess of unreacted aromatic alcohol in the composition is from greater than 0% to 15% by mole of the level of original NCO groups in the prepolymer. From 50 to 100% of the original NCO groups are end-capped with silane groups, and from 0 to 50% of the original NCO groups are end-capped with a end-capping group that has been derived from an aromatic alcohol, an aliphatic alcohol or both. Sealant compositions and coating compositions comprising the present prepolymer composition are also provided.

Prepolymer compositions and sealants made therefrom

A high elongation, low 100% modulus composition comprises a copolymer dispersed in a continuous phase polysiloxane. The copolymer is made from high amounts of at least a monomer which is capable of forming a low Tg polymer and relatively low amounts of at least a monomer which is capable of forming a high Tg polymer. The monomer forming the low Tg polymer can be an alkyl acrylate whereas the monomers forming the high Tg polymer can be a vinyl ester, an acrylonitrile or derivatives thereof, a vinyl substituted aromatic such as styrene, an alkyl methacrylate, and the like. The composition has good adhesion to substrates as well as good viscosity aging, and can be utilized in caulks or sealants.
