A cochlear implant hearing aid system is disclosed. The cochlear implant hearing aid system comprises an external part. The external part includes a sound pickup unit configured to pick up sound from the environment and a sound processing unit configured to process said sound. The cochlear implant hearing aid system further comprises an implant part. The implant part includes an implant processing unit and a plurality of cochlea stimulation electrodes for stimulation of a cochlea of a user. The cochlear implant hearing aid system further comprises a near-infrared transmitter configured to transmit a near-infrared wave. The cochlear implant hearing aid system further comprises a near-infrared receiver configured to receive said near-infrared wave.

The invention relates to a hearing aid a cochlear implant comprising a) at least one input transducer for capturing incoming sound and for generating electric audio signals which represent frequency bands of the incoming sound, b) a sound processor which is configured to analyze and to process the electric audio signals, c) a transmitter that sends the processed electric audio signals, d) a receiver/stimulator, which receives the processed electric audio signals from the transmitter and converts the processed electric audio signals into electric pulses, e) an electrode array embedded in the cochlear comprising a number of electrodes for stimulating the cochlear nerve with said electric pulses, and f) a control unit configured to control the distribution of said electric pulses to the number of said electrodes. The control unit is configured to distribute said electric pulses to the number of said electrodes by applying one out of a plurality of different coding schemes, and wherein the applied coding scheme is selected according to characteristics of the incoming sound.

A cochlear implant device is disclosed, comprising an inductive antenna, a stimulation unit, an electrode array, and an energy harvesting apparatus. The inductive antenna is configured to receive energy to operate the cochlear implant and to receive signals for a stimulation of a cochlea via an electrode array comprising a plurality of electrodes. The stimulation unit is configured to process the signals received by the inductive antenna to be usable for the electrodes of the electrode array. The electrode array is configured to apply the signals processed by the stimulation unit to the cochlea for the stimulation thereof. The energy harvesting apparatus is connected to the stimulation unit or to the electrode array, and is configured to harvest energy based on at least one of thermal, biochemical, biophysical, and mechanical processes/phenomena pertaining to the cochlea, and is configured to provide harvested energy to the stimulation unit or the electrode array, respectively.

Self-powered electrode array

According to an embodiment, a hearing aid system is disclosed. The system includes a speech processor communicatively coupled to a microphone. The speech processor is configured to process a microphone signal received at the speech processor for producing an electrical stimulation signal and an acoustic stimulation signal. The speech processor is also configured to generate a modified acoustic stimulation signal by modifying the acoustic stimulation signal at least for a part of a residual frequency range of a patient in dependence on effect of an implantable electrode array on mechanical properties of cochlea of the patient. The system also includes a first unit and a second unit. The first unit comprising a cochlear implant communicatively coupled to the speech processor, the cochlear implant comprising the implantable electrode array configured to be located within a cochlea of the patient and to provide the electrical stimulation based on the electrical stimulation signal to a cochlea within a non-residual frequency range of the patient. The second unit communicatively coupled to the speech processor and adapted to provide the modified acoustic stimulation based on the modified acoustic stimulation signal to the cochlea within the at least in the part of the residual frequency range.

The invention relates to a hearing aid comprising a first microphone configured to receive a first acoustic signal and to convert the first acoustic signal to a first electrical audio signal, a speaker configured to emit an acoustic output signal into an ear of a user of the hearing aid device, a first analog-to-digital converter for converting the first electrical audio signal into a first time-domain input signal, a first input unit comprising a first analysis filter bank which is configured to convert the first time-domain input signal to a number NI,1 of first input frequency bands wherein the number NI,1 of first input frequency bands is determined by said first analysis filter bank, a first frequency band bundling and allocation unit which is configured to bundle adjacent first input frequency bands and to allocate first frequency bands to be processed to a number NP,1 of first processing channels, a memory unit which is configured to store data indicating which of the first NI,1 input frequency bands are subject to a likelihood of feedback that is above a threshold, a signal processing unit is configured to process the first frequency bands to be processed in the number NP,1 of first processing channels, and wherein the number NP,1 of first processing channels is smaller than the number NI,1 of first input frequency bands, and wherein the first frequency band bundling and allocation unit is configured to generate a first bundling and allocation scheme which determines the bundling of the first NI,1 input frequency bands and the allocation of the first frequency bands to be processed to the first NP,1 processing channels wherein said first bundling and allocation scheme depends on the likelihood of feedback to occur in at least one of the first NI,1 input frequency bands.

A hearing aid system includes a first unit producing first perception and second auditory unit producing second perception. The units are configured to provide a first and second auditory perceptions respectively. The system also includes a first processor comprised within the first auditory unit and/or a second processor comprised within the second auditory unit and/or a remote processor comprised within a remote control that is configured to communicative couple with at least one of the first auditory unit and/or the second auditory unit. The at least one of the first processor, second processor or remote processor is configured to access, for a scenario, a stored related parameter value for a parameter from a memory, and process the accessed related parameter value such that an aligned auditory perception between the first auditory perception and the second auditory perception is obtained.

The hearing system comprises an implantable device configured to be implanted under the skin of a wearer and an external device configured to be positioned at an ear of the wearer. According to an embodiment, a hearing aid system is disclosed. The system includes a first auditory unit and a second auditory unit, where each unit is configured to be worn by a user. The first auditory unit provides a first auditory perception to the user and utilizes a first working principle. The second auditory unit provides a second auditory perception to the user and utilizes a second working principle. The first auditory unit and/or the second auditory unit are configured to process a related parameter value, received from the user, for a parameter. The processing of the related parameter value results in obtaining an aligned auditory perception between the first auditory perception and the second auditory perception.
