A method for identifying a user among a plurality of users of a multimedia system comprising extracting an i-vector for the speech utterance using total variability modeling, comparing the extracted i-vector with a collection of i-vector sets in order to identify a target set most similar to the extracted i-vector, and granting access to the multimedia system in accordance with an access profile associated with the identified target set. Further, source variation is minimized by, for each speech utterance acquired using a specific data source, re-centering first-order statistics of the speech utterance around the mean of an informative prior associated with the source, and using the co-variance of the informative prior associated with the source when extracting the i-vector for the speech utterance.

Speaker recognition in multimedia system

A method and system for providing information to a user positioned in a room with two independent listening areas where, in one area, an audio signal is output compensating for the sound from the other area, and where a position between the two areas is indicated to a user. When the user moves about, the position and size of one listening area may change, and the user may be made aware of any conflict with the other listening area. The areas may be defined by boundaries where a compensation quality is at a threshold quality.

Method and a system of providing information to a user

A system and a method of operating the system comprising a media provider comprising a first user interface and a controller comprising a second user interface, the method comprising the user browsing the network using the controller and viewing media information on the controller, such as an iPad. The user may control the controller to stream the media information to a media provider, which may be a TV and so that the media information is then provided on both the TV and iPad in a synchronized manner. Subsequent to that, the TV may receive the media information directly from the network so that the controller may be used for other purposes.
