An apparatus for removing or installing a turbine blade from a turbine of a turbomachine is disclosed. The apparatus can include: an operative head configured to engage an axial sidewall of a turbine blade base. An actuator is configured to move the operative head to selectively engage the axial sidewall of the turbine blade base and impart an axial force against the turbine blade base to remove or install the turbine blade. A support gantry is configured to position the actuator substantially vertically above the turbine blade in position in the turbomachine. Among other advantages, the support gantry allows adjustment of the apparatus for different turbines, and use of the head on more than one stage of any given turbine.

Embodiments of the disclosure provide a tool and method for alignment adjustment of machinery. The tool may include a bottom plate, a top plate oriented in parallel planes, a low friction intermediate element between bottom plate and top plate, and a hydraulic actuator or electro-mechanic actuator arranged between the bottom plate and the top plate and capable of moving the top plate relative to the bottom plate.

The method includes lifting the turbine assembly onto the column. The platform, the linear actuator, and the column are sized to support the turbine assembly.

The puller includes an arm for engaging an installed fastener and a piston inserted into the cylinder of the body such that, when the cylinder is pressurized, the piston is displaced within the cylinder to displace the arm relative to the body to cause removal of the fastener.

An inlet guide vane removal assembly includes a support frame with a support plate. At least one force device is coupled to the support plate. A puller bracket is attached to the at least one force device. The puller bracket has an open-ended slot defined therethrough, and a plurality of flanges positioned to engage an installed inlet guide vane. When the force device is actuated, the puller bracket is displaced relative to the support frame to facilitate removing the inlet guide vane.

A locking device () is operable to lock a tool () in an opening. The locking device includes a base () positionable with respect to a lifting member () of the tool when a first end of the lifting member is positioned within the opening. The locking device also includes a lift () coupled to the base for movement relative to the base. The lift includes an interface portion () coupleable to the lifting member such that the lifting member is moveable with the interface portion in an extraction direction of the opening when the lift is moved from a first position to a second position relative to the base.

An alignment apparatus for aligning inlet guide vanes in a turbine having a turbine axis includes a tool body, a positioning block secured to the tool body, and a plurality of alignment pieces secured to the tool body. The positioning block may be affixed to the tool body such that when the positioning block is engaged with a leading edge of one of the inlet guide vanes, at least a portion of the alignment pieces is parallel to the turbine axis. The alignment pieces may be manually displaceable from the OFF position to the ON position into engagement with the inlet guide vanes to align one or more of the inlet guide vanes.

Inlet guide vane alignment apparatus and method

A device for measuring a gap between two objects located remotely from a user includes a base, a slider and a wedge. The slider is slidably received in the base and the wedge is attached to the slider and also slidably received in the base. A push-pull cable has a proximal end connected to the slider. The wedge is inclined at a predetermined angle and slides along an angled surface of the base such that a force applied to a distal end of the cable causes an upper surface of the wedge to move vertically forcing the wedge and the base into respective contact with the two objects forming the gap. By measuring the distance that the push-pull cable slides, the vertical distance traveled by the wedge and thus a measurement of the gap may be determined.
