Ir phenyl parazolepyrazole complexes substituted with one or more strong electron withdrawing groups such as cyano groups resulted in enhancing the metal to ligand charge transfer (MLCT) which in turn resulted in enhanced emission efficiency and red shifted emission.

Organic electroluminescent materials and devices

A compound having a structure of Formula 1: is disclosed. In Formula 1, each one of Xto Xis independently CR or N; at least two adjacent of Xto Xare CR; at least one pair of adjacent Rs is fused to one of the Ring A, Ring B, Ring C, or Ring D; each instance of Y, Y, Y, and Yis independently CRor N; each instance of Z is independently CRR, NR, O, S or Se; each instance of R, R, R, R, and Rare independently selected from a variety of substituents; and any adjacent substituents of R, R, R, R, and Rare optionally joined or fused into a ring. Formulations and devices, such as an OLEDs, that include the compound of Formula 1 are also described.

A family of phosphorescent emitter compounds containing a carbene ligand Lselected from the group consisting of: is disclosed. These compounds enhance the performance of OLEDs when incorporated therein.

Secondary hole transporting layer with diarylamino-phenyl-carbazole compounds

Novel compounds, and in particular, novel molecules having twisted aryl groups are provided. In particular, the compounds include an aryl group at the ortho position relative to an amine nitrogen, thereby causing a twist within the compound from the plane of the aryl group due to the steric effect. As a result, this decreases the tendency of the molecules to pack closely and results in a higher solid state triplet energy due to reduced solid state &#x3c0;-stacking. Additionally, organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) comprising a layer including these novel compounds are provided.
